First time computer build.

Hello all. A little background, I plan on playing SWTOR when it comes out and have decided that the dell I bought back in 2006 is not going to cut it... I picked out a bunch of parts for my build but a friend of mine told me I had to come here and ask all you smart people if the components are the best for my application/price range. '

I already have a 400w power supply and a nvidia geforce 9600 gt overclocked (I think the "overclocked" part was part of the name, I did not overclock it)

case: cooler master HAF 912

HD: samsung spinpoint f3 1TB 32mb catch

Motherboard: ASUS M4A88TD-V

RAM: G.SKILL ripjaws series 8gb (2X4gb)

CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 955 3.2GHz

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 plus

Additional fan: Cooler Master Megaflow 200 200mm


I wanted to keep it under 400 (poor college student) and its already at 450 lol. Just would like to know if everything will work fine and if there are any suggestions for better parts at a similar price point. And I think the video card will hold me back some but I already have it and can upgrade later if I find that its not adequate enough.

I would still go for a am3+ mobo if you really wanted to stay on the Amd side.

But the best now we can say is that we have the i5 2500k and if Overclocked we have great performance at a great price range.

and I just found the "how to ask for new build advice" thread. I really failed on this one...

Plan on buying this week (tomorrow if possible)

I already have monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers, ect..

I do not plan on overclocking though I have heard that with the motherboard I chose, it is relatively easy to do.

but as i said before go am3+ that way you can stay up to date.
If you want i can recommend to you a mobo.

Unfortunately we dont know if they will only cater a few or all the bulldozer cpus.
