For a case, I'd look at something with a bit more airflow. I'm thinking that 800D gets most of its value from being great for water-cooled setups.

Maybe the Corsair Graphite 600 T ($140)

The Velociraptors aren't good value any more. They aren't much much faster than modern 7200 rpm drives with 500 GB platters (like the Samsung Spinpoint F3 500 GB and 1 TB).

Use the Vertex 3 for a boot drive and then a 1 TB Spinpoint F3 for storage. ($65)

DVD drive: $20

TOTAL: $1595

Add another gtx 580 and you're at $2000.

EDIT: What are the specific features you wanted from the Maximus IV motherboard? Was it the pcie slots?

 

[Why_Me]

This mobo down below has the current record for o/c these Sandy Bridge cpu's. Not only that but it runs dual cards in SLI @ 16x & 16x. The RAM down below is low voltage (1.5v) as seeing how manufactures recommend low voltage RAM for these mobo's and not the crappy 1.64v RAM. The Zalman cpu h/s is in the top ten rated h/s @ frostytech...that and it's red LED fan matches that case nicely...along with the red memory h/s. Those factory o/c 560's down below not only run cooler and are more power efficient than the 570's and 580's for the fact they are on Nvidia's newest and latest chipset and die, but they can be o/c even more and they run just about on par with the gtx 570's. Now here's the clincher.... Intel is coming out with the new 22nm Ivy Bridge cpu's in less than a year, rumors are they o/c to 6.0ghz or even better, and with a bios flash these P67 boards will run those cpu's. So if this build is for gaming, the 2600K is a complete hose job, especially seeing how those Ivy Bridge cpu's are due to be out. btw this build also includes a 160GB SSD along with a 1tb h/d for storage.

*** Having a power gaming build such as the one posted above would be a total waste imo with a 60hz refresh rate monitor. This is a 120hz refresh rate monitor down below with a low 2ms response time. It's a refurbished monitor, but this outfit (dealspot) has a 98+% approval rating and also a few posters on here have purchased that monitor through them.
