Question First time overclocker; are my temps ok for 4790k

to be short and sweet

asus maximus IV extreme
I7 4790k (CM hyper 212 cooler)
Gskill 16G 2133 (xmp enabled)

ive only changed the following settings

xmp enabled
sync all cores
and set the ratio to 45

under stress testing im hitting high 80s im wondering if i may have put to much thermal past on or if this is all i can get with just air?
that being said the case does problly does need all new fans as they are all 5-6 years old they are clean however

high 80s are high.

I suspect the H212 just cant keep up as it is a budget cooler. A bigger air or watter cooler would be much better.

Considering your cooler you should be fine. Thats not a cooler I would recommend, especially if you want lower temps. You would be better off with a decent Noctua or AiO for overclocking.

ok thanks guys next pay check its a new cooler I knew it wasnt the best so im not surprised at all im trying to run the best OC I can on air (just because) im not even worried about the noise lol but thanks

i was worried i had used to much TP but maybe i didnt

one day when im not so green I'll switch to water
