First X800 vs GF6800 Review

Well a Spanish site MeriStation has their review up already.

Translated using Babel here it is;

<A HREF="http://world.altavista.com/babelfish/trurl_pagecontent?lp=es_en&url=http%3a%2f%2fwww.meristation.com%2fsc%2farticulos%2farticulo.asp%3fcr%3d5218%26p%3d%26c%3dGEN%26pag%3d0" target="_new">FixedLink (doesn't link linking from first page [F'in Babel!])</A>

Now whil it appears as a GF6800 in most of the reviews the test setup says it's a GF6800Ultra (sample).

Not using the 61.1 drivers for the GF6800, just the WHQL certified ones, and take that as you will.

Of note, the Call of Duty figures. Different than Lars' review. That much due to drivers?

Surprisingly low MaxPayneII results all around. And interesting crash of the X800s in SplinterCell at high quality.

PS: I have no idea what the heck the game "I pull ahead" is. Must be some weird translation.

PPS: Actually it looks like it's HALO based on the configuration picture.

Far too many bad links. The tom review should be up in a few hours anyways right?

F'in Babel!

Here's the original, I'll go fix the translation.

DH, it works now, but you can wait if you want. :wink:

From the looks of it this isn't going to be very exciting at all. I'm seeing a wash or a draw....

Yeah I'm surprised considering that the initially reviews made the main selling point high res. and higher AA/AF settings.

I think like DH says this could be a bunch of opposing wins and ties. Interesting that the leads trade even within the same benchmarks depending on settings.

DarkSithPro from Rage3D cached the Bjorn3D review;

Really just the X800XT against the R9800XT. Interesting that they did use the new Catalyst drivers (4.5) for the X800 but not the R9800. Hard to read, but some interesting tidbits.

Looks like there should be a nice collection of pictures and demos to go along with it. Quicktime Ruby Demo will be enjoyable I'm sure. :evil:

To bad he didn't cache the whole review with visuals, but something more none the less. Oh well bed time, I'm sure by morning there'll be alot more and far better reviews out there.

If I glanced at a spilt box of tooth picks on the floor, could I tell you how many are in the pile. Not a chance, But then again I don't have to buy my underware at Kmart.

Yep seen those thanks to GW, but thanks. There's a whole bunch in the Rage3D thread.

However there's also These direct links from the review above;
Enjoy! :wink:

Still waiting for the full demo though.

Even the statue looks cool (reminds me of rthdribl).

Of course there's also the Edited version of these things and they're just plain scary! :eek:
Oie, now it's time for bed, and I can't get those visions out of my head. Arggh! More Alcohol! :eek:

Looks to me like an obvious failure to disable Vsync. 60fps at every resolution. :wink:

Bfish sure helped me on that review, thx. I tried to look it over last night but in spanish, not too successful.

5:20 AM eastern time, and no new reviews out. Figures I'll be at work when they hit the web.

OK, Grape. No reviews now at 5:45 AM eastern time. And What-up with ATI never emailing me letting me "be the first to know". :smile: I signed up for that back when you posted a link to it. I wonder if NDA is up at 8:00AM and if the reviews and an email from ATI announcing their cards will come at that time.

Well they all likely hit the net within moments of their NDAs expiring,the thing is some places released early, and therefore may (but unlikely) feel some legal heat. They may claim ignorance of the true times,etc.

Usually all NDAs expire at the same time, and then it's simply up to the websites to publish their links.

With THG, it was likely available on their German side first (Lars usually posts in Germans first) then came to the English and other languages next.

Everything's up now though (too bad I actually HAVE work, so I can't look/comment like I would like to).

Yeah, I haven't checked my home mail (dont't like doing that from work) yet. I wonder when their e-mail was stamped, I know it wasn't there at midnight!

Anywhoo, by now I assume you're swamped with more info than you know what to do with. And yes, missed that V-sync thing until just before going to bed. Can't believe they F'd that up. But it should provide some nice ammunition for some BS PR wars between fanbois.

It did seem surprising at the time, but it was more in an anomaly way, being good in COD seemed to be a nV trait, so those results stick out as 'Whoa! Strange.'

I'm gonna spend all night going over these to get a feel for them. Interesting that the memory Chips have a fair amount of overhead for Oc'ing if the rated figures are accurate representations of their true max.

I didn't have 1 minute at work to check the reviews. I just started that around 7:00 PM tonight. Ugh, that was rough. Lot's of reading to do tonight for me too. By the way, no email from ATI yet. I think since I wasn't the first to know, they owe me a free X800XTP. :smile:
