This one is priceless.
My brand new 7200XL is having network card problems.
I log on to Gateway tech support and start an exchange of emails to try and
resolve the problem. The exchange goes like this:
Me:
My Marvell Yukon card is not being recognized by Windows XP after a cold
boot. If I restart Windows XP the card is recognized and everything works
fine.
Gateway:
Download and reinstall the driver.
Me:
Tried that. It did not work.
Gateway:
Uninstall Windows XP SP2 and reload the driver.
Me:
Did that. Still does not solve the problem.
Gateway:
Take the card out and reinstall it.
Me:
I would if it was not integrated into the motherboard.
Gateway:
Check your BIOS and make sure the network card is enabled.
Also, check to see whether there are any duplicate entries in Device
Manager.
Me:
I have already looked at all the obvious potential problem areas.
Besides, I said that Windows does recognize the card after a second boot.
Gateway:
Download and reinstall the driver.
Me:
Didn't we already go there.
Gateway:
Go to the My System Information section of the Gateway Web Site.
For specific system information please enter your computer serial number
and click Go. If you do not know the serial number, click "Look up my
serial number for me." The next page has links to Frequently Asked
Questions (FAQ's) along with the latest support documents and user
guides. You can also view our library of step-by-step and video
self-help tutorials, and quickly find the solution to common problems.
So, if I interpret the last message correctly it reads "FIX IT YOURSELF"
