Fixing my friend's computer for him, it BSOD'd on him and then every time you restart it gets to the windows splash screen then reboots. Boots up fine in safemode, I did a bunch of things like msconfig for potential driver issues, scanned for viruses and removed any and finally removed all graphics drivers which was the only thing to let the computer boot normally. However when I freshly installed new drivers it went back to rebooting on startup.
The graphics card is my old XFX 7870 which is almost 4 years old now.
Other reasons why I think it's the GPU is that the computer can't sustain a DVI connection, it works for the splash and then loses output. It runs fine on the HDMI though. We also had an issue in the past with the graphics driver. I'm 90% sure the graphics card is dead, but I just want to confirm with you guys before I tell my buddy to go out and buy a new one.
