Fixing your Razer Naga Mouse Double Clicking Problem Walkthrough

Anyone here having problems with double clicking your razer naga's left mouse button?
Is this annoying issue causing you to make dragging and highlighting things nearly impossible?

I have decided to document with pictures how I fixed this issue for good. (Razerblueprints.net for pictures)

First of all, updating your drivers and flashing your firmware will NOT get rid of this problem with your razer Naga. Razer claims that firmware update 1.07 fixes this issue which it doesn't, It does however make it a little better if its not already very very bad.

You can RMA your mouse if its still out of warranty if u like, however if you either don't want to wait weeks without your precious Naga or if your warranty is out follow these easy steps. Its really not hard and only takes you like 15 minutes.

Firstly Unplug your mouse.

1. First Carefully/Slowly peel off the outer plastic pad as the second picture shows, underneath you will see 4 small screws.
( you do not need to take off the large sticker on the bottom of the mouse, I originally thought I did but you don't )

2. Take out screws

3. Use either your finger nail or a pointy flat object to pop the back portion of the naga up then take off the top, the right side of the naga will likely fall off, no biggie you will put it back when were done.

4. Now were going to apply 3-5 drops of CONTACT CLEANER directly on top of the button that is giving you issue (in my case the little button switch on the left side of the wheel)

5. I recommend pushing the button a bunch of times slowly to help let the solution go down into the switcher, this will help remove whatever is causing your bad contact.

6. Let the solution dry for 6 minuites or so

7. Put your mouse back together and voila, your mouse is as good as new!

I used Deoxit brand Contact cleaner which is said to be the best you can get, if you want to use this just google "deoxit" with the name of your city beside it and you should find a retailer nearby. Let me know how it went, Worked like a charm for me.

There is no video nor any pictures here. Please post the video if you can, I have this problem and I can't quite see where I'm supposed to peel off the outer plastic pad.

great work on this zubba, I was looking after some instructions on how to open it, and the pictures are great!
First thing I want to point, its that when you did this, and took the pictures of your mouse, it was plugged in, the lights were on, I mean the leds, hahahaha.

The second thing is, I'm having a problem with my mouse, it seems the lubricant for the wheel has evaporated or something, and it makes an awful sound when I scroll, so, I'm thinking on opening it, and putting something to lubricate the wheel, any advices?
Please dont refer to a specific brand since I'm from South America, so something really specific wont be at sale here. And to finish, any advices on how to lift the teflon pad to take out the screws, and what to use to stick the teflon pads back into the mouse?

Zethiel, I'm very happy some of this information was helpful to you.

As far as the mouse wheel sqeak/noise goes I'd reccomend visiting youtube and watching some videos on fixing the mouse wheel noises on other models. I understand other models are not the same however the theory behind fixing them for the most part are. I took information on how to fix the mamba double click problem and adapted it to the naga.

I must have peeled those Teflon pads off 5 or 6 times and they still had no problems sticking back on, however if they are being uncooperative for you I'd suggest applying a very modest amount of super glue in a few spots and spreading it VERY lightly ( you don not want excess ) Don't do this of course until you know all your mouse problems are solved.

I tried your method of fixing it Zubba, but my problem continues, maybe cause I dont have the spray you had, I live in The Netherlands and I cant find it at most shops (the ones I've checked).

What other chemical would you use instead of that Contact Cleaner?

I have heard of people using wd-40 on the clicker to also solve this problem. Go to http://blog.justfrag.com/2011/04/18/solution-double-click-issue-razer-mouse/ for more information on using wd40 to lube the clicker.

Personally I would stick to the Deoxit, I understand that if u don't have access to a retailer this can be tough, however I did find a place in the Netherlands that carrys it, perhaps you could get it shipped from there.

Hi. Thanks for the tutorial! For those in Australia who can't get Deoxit I used Servisol Electronic Clean and Lube available from Jaycar. Worked a treat.

Few insights into the problem.
(1) DSP based mouse use chip to control freeze delay between individual click, if mouse is new this could be a manufacturing defect.
(2) As mouse ages, return spring of click button loses stiffness and bounces under clicks and thus produces several clicks for one.
Tough Fix:
Open mouse replace click sensors on PCB by desoldering, switching places of sensors and resoldering.
*****Easy Fix*****
(1) Go to control Panel> Mouse >Double Click Speed and drag the slider to the middle between Slow and Fast.
(2) Download Utility MouseFix version 1.0 http://www.mediafire.com/?2cr4157s0rtnm44
(3) If rebinds keys and fixes double clicking, you can also use Left Shift as mouse click using this utility, Right Shift remains the same.

I just wanted to add my 2 cents, I was looking at this and thought, well before I take it apart.....

-I basically got my compressed air can, sprayed it in the mouse wheel section while clicking the left button. (Now this didn't work off the bat) So I then decided to blow in it myself haha. Well as it turns out, the mouse is working good as new. No taking it apart, no replacing, nothing. Just a bit of air and combined use of this guides method. :p I'm not sure how long this will last, but I will return and edit as soon as it stops working again.

You dont need to aply any contact cleaner or WD40.
The button pusher has mini hole where it contact with button. just attach something flat and really thin to it. Ive used razor blade fragment and it work like new one, its seems to be pernament solution.

I've repaired my evil doubleclicking logitech mouse several times now. I open the mouse, and open the microswitch and retension the small copper spring. For those wanting pictures, you can check out the instructables I made detailing how to perform the repair. I hope this helps someone, as this problem can be extremely annoying. Seems to have worked for me as well. Go figure--I can build a several thousand dollar computer, but when it comes to taking apart a much cheaper Naga, I'm scared to death I'll ruin it, lol. Glad the easier fix has worked for now.

Lol, to everyone acting like taking your mouse apart and not recommending contact cleaner: grow some bizawls zubba's repair is perfect, using the contact cleaner is going to help from any corrosion happening in the future as well. if you want to blow compressed air into it or use an aerosol dusting agent... then take the amount of time that it took to develop your double-click problem and expect it to happen once again in probably half of that time. i googled and typed "razer naga keeps double-clicking" thinking it was a software issue that someone had already patched by now and stumbled across this. who would have known it was a physical problem and not a software glitch! thank you zubba it worked great!

I had the same problem with mine, this method did work for over a year before it returned in BOTH buttons. Here is what i think is a more permanent solution for those who are tech savvy and good with their hands.

you can goto nearly any electronics store and ask for a can of contact cleaner. also check some computer stores maybe some hardware stores as well. there are many brands.

Hi Kairus,

I tried your fix for the Razer Naga and it unfortunately didn't work. Now instead of just having a double clicking problem, I have both a double clicking problem and a hold and click problem. On about every second click my Razer Naga will now hold down and create a drag box across the screen. This is extremely irritating. I was wondering how I can uninstall this program? I'm not very good with computers and it doesn't seem to show up in the unistall section of programs and features in control panel.

I tried the software fix as well and experience the exact same issue.
I can add that when you would drag a window away,the window could remain stuck to the mouse arrow.

Looking at it from a designer point of view, i think that 0.1 seconds recognition time is still too slow.
It would be nice if this delay-recognition time would be configurable in a tray-icon->right-click menu. This way, users could narrow the timing down to a value that works for them. (perhaps even down to 0.001)
Super initiative though, i hope it helps some razer users! And hope to see a upate ;-)

I lifted my mouse button a bit, located the plastic part that pushes the clicker inside. And used few drops of a product called Action 5 on it...
It's properties are: anti-moisture, anti-corrosion, penetrating, lubing, tar-removing.
It's a big red spraying can with one of these nifty spray extension thingys on it,which i shoved under the mouse button to reach the right spot.
Seems to work fine for 1 day now...Will post if the problem ever returns.

First post here but I am having the same problem with my Naga started a few days ago and I have found another solution.

There is a program you can download called FixMouseLMB this program allows me to double click when I want to but stops any false double clicks.
Anyway I offer it as an alternative, as with any software you should be careful what you download but this seems quite genuine.

This has been working fine for about half a year now, since the problem re-appeared recently.
I decided to open op my Naga and replace the clicker parts with these clickers;

I chose not to buy the replacements from E-bay, which are supposedly able to reach 8 or 10 million clicks. I don't trust Chinese sellers claiming that!
As i've done some extensive research...wherever on the net you find clickers of the same dimension,checking their honest technical data-sheets...none could ever reach that amount of clicks!
So i decided to give these a try...they are somewhat sturdier than the original clickers,so i hope that will translate in a longer lifespan.
I installed a mouseclick-counter (Murgee) ,and will report whenever these thingys reach their end of life.
