I downloaded MEUpdateTool for my MOBO, which is an Asus B150M-K.
Is this the right file?
To flash, I leave it zipped, as is, and I run it from the firmware interface?

So I opened the firmware interface and tried to run the e-z tool from that file.
It doesn't seem to be doing anything at all. Mouse and keyboard is frozen, I don't see any status bar or anything showing progress, just plain stuck.
What to do?
It's been this way for about 20 minutes.

I guess it's just not reading the file, and I should shut down the machine?

Nope, no bitlocker.
Sorry, but I am a little confused. I unzipped it, and there are two installers:
MEUpdateTool
PEUpdater

Neither of them do anything when I run them from desktop.
I need to run them from firmware?
And they need to be saved on a non-NTFS disk, such as as FAT flash drive?
Which one of them should I run?

Maybe I should get to the real issue:
I seem to be having trouble with my network card. I bought a new router, and now my wired ethernet connection has interruptions. (Desktop, no wifi.)
I tried the same cables and everything with a different PC, and it works fine. I tried different cables and telephone cord with the trouble PC, and it still has interruptions.
So the IPS tech support says to look at my network card.
So, I see that the network card is integrated into the MOBO, and I don't find any new drivers on the ASUS site for LAN cards for my MOBO. Therefore, I thought maybe updating the firmware will help. My current firmware build is from 2015.
Am I barking up the wrong tree?

Thanks. That didn't do it, so now I am thinking about a new network adapter of some type.
What is recommended? My router supports N, but not the newer AC protocol.
Maybe I will get one of those USB wifi adapters, and keep it in close range to the router? I don't do much transferring of data over the local network, it's mainly Internet access for me.

you may have cause yourself a few issues. when you tried to update the mei and it failed or locked up the mei part is security on intel mb and it may have caused the ethernet port not to work right. start with downloading your bios the newest one for your mb. update it and then rerun mei updater if needed. after you run it from intel download the newest intel chipset driver and mei driver. if you cant find it intel has a drive check program for free on there web page. for your ethernet driver if it intel or realtek port download the newest driver from intel or realteck.

So after I messed around with updating ME, and it didn't work, I restored a system image from before my tinkering. I assume that undid whatever it was.

So how do I find that file for flashing my BIOS?? I couldn't find such a file on ASUS website. I don't want to flash over internet because if the connection dies, my PC will die..

The interruptions are with wired connection, not wifi This PC doesn't even have wifi.

The most recent driver for LAN on ASUS site is from 2015, so I didn't even bother with it.

But basically, it sounds like I have a LAN card that is on the blink, so I am looking for a replacement of some sort. Does that make sense to you?

You get BIOS update the same way you get ME update (just click on "Show all" link in BIOS downloads section).

Reinstall LAN driver anyway (even if it is from year 2015). Your current driver simply may be corrupted.

But, if your lan card is broken, then get PCIE ethernet controller and install it into free PCIE slot on your motherboard.
