Question Flash drive Format corruption

I have a flash drive in my security camera system. Its a walmart 128 GB formatted exfat. I pulled it out and was going to pull some video it froze the whole pc. I tried on another pc same issue. I brought out my surface and tried a chkdsk it froze at 0% would not move. Tried to copy the data after plugging it back in. Thats was a no go. Reformated it as exfat and ran chkdsk /r it ran without issue. Also the pc did not lock up. Any idea what happened? The only thing i got is the power went out and after inwas getting backup failed messages. Maybe the power blink caused some corruption that just got embed deep in it.

Is your PC set up for quick removal? If not, it may have corrupted the drive by removing it.

It is. for clarity the power blinked while the usb was in the camera system. Not my pc . Thats where I think the corruption happened

I misread the first time through, now I see. Yes, it could get corrupted with loss of power or when power comes back on. It seems it is working correctly now?

It seems to be. I just had to lose the clips on he drive. I am going to run data recovery on it. I’ve made a note that when it looses power pull it and check it immediately.

As an update it seems that drive failed. Every day the sync module has disconnected at the same time. After a reboot a message follows backup failed. After 4 days of trying stuff i put a different usb in it. This time a sandisk. Backup successfully last night no disconnect. It seems the walmart cheap flash drive has issues.
