Flicker and Then Black Screen?

Hey everyone. I’ve run into a strange issue. When I try and launch a game on Steam, my monitor flickers and then the screen just goes black. It wasn’t doing this a day ago, so I don’t understand what has happened. The only thing I did was change the refresh rate in the Nvidia Control Panel but then I changed it back to 144hz. Now I seem to be in an unknown predicament. Thoughts?

Monitor - Asus ROG Swift PG279Q
CPU - i7-8700k
GPU - EVGA 1080ti FTW3 iCX
RAM - G.Skill Flare X 16GB

Nice System! So to clear up what "caused" this problem what exactly did you change in the Nvidea control panel? 165hz? And how does the monitor go black, is it a sudden immediate blackout or something else?
