here is an off the wall question that relates to CPU, GPU, RAM:

I am using FlippingBook to convert catalogues/files to flip book (page turning ) books for marketing, the web, etc.

My question is this: would the process of converting pdf files to flipped book files be completed faster with better CPU, GPU, or RAM?

My current system is a low end , but new Gateway laptop with AMDe2 3800, 6gb RAM, and no dedicated graphics (Radeon HD 1.3).

I am planning to buy a new laptop for my business and am wondering how much, if any, an i7 processor ... or more RAM (16??)... or a dedicated GPU would speed up the conversion process.

Any thoughts from anyone that does this type of rendering/comversion or video etc?

thank you.

thank you for the quick answer.

so, with that in mind, would the same answer apply to video editing/rendering as well? I have been thinking I essentially need to get a gaming type rig to get the cpu/gpu/ram configuration needed. This laptop is to replace my PC... note that i am not a gamer. I love the idea of a fully loaded 17" Sager with thunderbolt, but am wondering if that is total overkill ... not to mention traveling with a ten pound laptop that wont likely fit on a the seat back tray on airplanes is a bit inconvenient. BUT, i dont like to buy new systems every two years like a lot of people... i try to drag the life out of my computers (this is replacing a windows xp, 2gb ram, pent4 type PC).

does this info make a difference on the CPU, GPU, RAM question?
