Floppy Disk Drive

Have just installed XP Pro to my laptop on separate
partition from my old OS Windows 2000. When I try to use
the floppy disk i.e. insert disk and engage, the systems
hangs completely. Do I have driver problem? The device
manager indicate that all is working properly and there
is no obvious reason for the problem. Advice please!

Notebooks can be built with several FDD solutions.

Is yours:-
a] built into the system case
b] external & attached via USB port
c] external & attached via a dedicated port

What is the make and model of your notebook?

Check with the manufacturer's website to see if there are updated drivers required for Windows XP [seems unlikely as the FDD is already recognised and working].
