Fluctuating PC performance

A couple days ago i noticed very low frame rates on a game that i could run at 60 fps. I didn't think much of it as i thought it was a bad update or something so i went to play another and the same thing occurred. So i opened up my system and made sure everything was plugged in properly and it all was.
But i then went to check the game and it was running smooth again. For about another 2 hours or so until the low fps kicked in again. So for a second time i opened up my pc and touched the psu and the components to see if there was some sort of electrical build up. And then again when i plugged it all back in the games ran fine again. Now, i do have a cheap psu and i am upgrading to a corsair one in a few days but i was wondering if my current one is dissipating too much current to my components causing them to lock up and not work properly.

Quite long but i do hope someone helps. Thanks

Cheap PSUs have terrible efficiency and cannot keep up a constant wattage most of the time, if less electricity reaches your graphics card for example its performance will decrease. Just wait for that Corsair, never buy a PSU that isn't certified ( at least have 80+ bronze ).

In short, your instinct is most possibly right.
