Hey guys, My PC currently is not the best and i'm looking to upgrade it some more. The current GPU i have is a GTX 1050, which is ok for the games i play like overwatch and h1z1 at 1080p. My CPU holds it back, though
since upgrading my GPU the performance is A LOt better, but i feel at a disadvantage sometimes, because the frames drop or i get low frames in general. any tips on a new cpu? my current one is an APU, AMD A10-6700 3.70 ghz
i looked around and figured the best i could get with such a poopoo socket would be an AMD A10-7850K Kaveri Quad-Core 3.7 GHz Socket FM2+. Thanks for the help in advance

It is clear cut. Each type of motherboard can only support a given range of CPUs. There is no way around that. You happen to have one of the faster CPUs for that type of motherboard. There is no big improvement to be had by 'upgrading' the CPU. It'll be a technical improvement at best, but you won't feel it.

Part of the problem is that the platform, with APUs, was not intended for more than casual gaming. The point of an APU is that you get built in graphics for things like HD video, so you don't need to buy a videocard. That's one reason there's no high end gaming CPU available for those motherboards.
FM2+ is a deadend socket. If you are going to change CPU, and don't want to throw good money after bad, then I suggest that you look at upgrading to Ryzen and an AM4 motherboard(and ram). That at least would give you a future upgrade path, and would work fine with your 1050.

With a socket that old, I very much doubt you'll find an upgrade that will be significant enough to matter. Even if you do upgrade you're likely going to be bottlenecking your GPU, and it also likely won't be able to run the games you want as efficiently either.

It'd be best to save up and upgrade your motherboard and RAM along with your CPU, since there's basically no point in wasting money attempting to upgrade on a socket that is essentially dead.

Nah, my rams fine
8 gigs isn't bad for what i need
brand isn't bad either
& i can't cough up $400 nor wanna do the work to upgrade motherboard and cpu, so like ya

"There are none so blind as he who will not see."
The only way to get a better CPU will require a new motherboard, that will only be available someplace like EBAY, and only as a used board. and only as old tech.

So you want to upgrade your CPU to a significantly better one on the socket that doesn't exist, and it to not cost much and for you to not have to make any effort. Is that all? Does it have to make you sandwiches for lunch every day and make you 20% handsomer?
