Hey guys,

I resently built myself a computer only to realize that the "BIOS Version" on the board was P2.40. This is all fine and dandy, but my A10 7870k I just bought (first build 😀) was incompatible with this BIOS Version and needed P3.00. I can't upgrade because I do not have another processor to put in, and unfortunately my friends dig Intel. So I was wondering if any of you guys would be willing to please do this for me. Here would be what is needed:

You would need to have a rig with the FMA88x-ITX+ mobo and one of these processors that could accept a BIOS Version of P2.40 or All.

I would send it to you with some money in it so you can post it back to me (and have a bit for yourself ;D )

Just take your BIOS chip out and put mine in

Take the USB drive supplied or the download from this link and put it into a usb port:

Boot into the BIOS and update that sucker

I would really appreciate if someone could go out of thier way and do this for a first timer!

EDIT:
If you can reliably reprogram a chip then I'd be equally thankful even if you don't have the mobo.

EDIT:
ASRock's mobos have removable BIOS chips, not soldered, so swapping chips would not be the problem. Thanks!

Not possible.

Nobody is going to be willing to remove their BIOS chip (I like your use of the word "Just" remove your BIOS chip - - lol)

Contact the board manufacturer and ask them if you can send them the board for BIOS update.

Looks like this supports ASRock Crashless BIOS. Wonder if thats the same as ASUS's Crashfree BIOS?

I think you have to extract the BIOS update to a flash drive (format it in FAT32 - NOT in a folder), then put it in a specific USB port (USB 2 not 3)

Please explain good sir. What is ASRock Crashless BIOS? Does this pertain to whoever would be kind enough to update it for me, or is thier some other way I can update the chip? (bear in mind my pc won't POST)

Okay so I booted her up before I put the USB in and she POSTed right up! The only change I made was I took the Red heatspreader off my ram because the black PCB looks stealthier. LOL IDK. Here's a question for you. It POSTs. BUT. The BIOS Version is P2.40. It should not technically be able to read the APU, but it does. Should I leave it (P2.40)as is or update it (P3.00)? Thanks for the help!

thanks alot man! Is there some point or something I can give you for helping me?

I just purchased this same CPU and mobo and all i had to do was plug in the ethernet network cord turn on the computer and it updated the BIOS to 3.0 automatically. I wonder if the poster tried connecting the computer to the internet first. I think that would have summed up his problem with the BIOS!
