FO3 GOTY Pip-boy black screen

The game seems to be running fine, except every time I open my pip-boy, it's display is just blank... It was the same earlier during the character creation bit, I couldn't see anything on the screens... any suggestions?

Maybe there are a few files missing during installation. Try reinstalling the game again

Thanks, but I managed to figure it out... all I ended up doing was turning down the shadows settings and for some reason the pip-boy screen became visible...
