I know this sounds impossible, but It confounds me also. This morning, when I booted up my computer, I went to Windows Explorer, clicked through a series of folders, and all of a sudden when I clicked one of of them, I got a error message that said it doesnt exist, and then the folder disappeared from windows explorer. This baffles me because it doesnt make any sense how it could just disappear like that, but it did... I didnt delete it, I didnt move it. I didnt copy it... it is nowhere to be found.

One thing of Note it that it is an external drive... my only copy of this folder as it was my backup...

Does anyone have any clue what happened?

Steps I have tried:
- Cmd Prompt: tree g:\ /a > 0 & start notepad 0 (I have tried this on all my drives, and my folder is nowhere to be found...)
- Rebooting the External drive
- Rebooting my desktop (Win10)
- Trying to open the folder on Mac OSX
- Recurva Deep scan

Nothing seems to even show any trace of the folder or any files that were in it...

Please, Im desperate here... Anyone have any ideas?

After a whole lot of searching, I ended up finding some of the files (most actually) in the root directory of the drive in a folder called "found.000", but it was a hidden and locked file. To even see the folder I had to uncheck the "Hide Protected Operating System Files" in view options. Then it was locked and I couldnt even open the folder to see what files were in it (Even though I am an Admin). I ended up having to run command prompt as Admin to go to that directory, where there was then 3 more directories named "found_00000001.chk", "found_00000002.chk", and "found_00000003.chk" with 3 different save times, all throughout the day (day of disappearance). As if this wasnt strange enough, about 1/3 of my files were in the found_00000001.chk folder, nothing was in found_00000002.chk, and the other 2/3 of my files were in found_00000003.chk. Overall, through the command prompt I was able to copy all the files in the folders to a different drive. Only files that seem to be missing are files that were modified within the 24 hours leading up to the disappearing folder... Which is strange in itself...

All of this blows my mind, but I think the problem is solved... Just wish I knew what happened...
