On XP Professional, I have a folder that I can't delete. The error
message I get is as follows:-
"Can't delete file : Cannot read from the file or disk ."
Checkdisc has been run with no effect.
Any Ideas.

Hi

That error message can mean that the file/folder isn't there - it's already
been deleted. Have you tried deleting the folder from a command prompt?

Yes, I've tried various methods of deletion, and always end up with the
same message. As to whether the folder has already been deleted, it persists
over system loads, and, by the way, it does NOT contain "system" files. I
have in fact cured the problem, but only by going back to an old archive of
the partition! I'd like to know of a "real" solution if there is one!!

Hi

That error message turne up here sometimes when I try and access a
file/folder that has already been deleted. That's the only time I've seen
it.
