[citation][nom]warmon6[/nom]Also forgot to mention that there is a strong possibility (or hope) that the PS4 will support F@H. http://foldingforum.org/viewtopic. [...] 66#p226826[/citation]
any documentation on that because I'm sure it would have been mentioned.
and for Folding to remove all Sony contacts that quickly doesn't look good for continued Folding
on PS4..
yes, it sux because it all helps but I think it's over..

[citation][nom]zakaron[/nom] For those keeping score, we lost:- PS2 backward compatibility (both hardware then software emulation)[/citation]
Logical move by Sony. Hardware support was very expensive in something they were already selling below cost. Most people who own a PS3 own a PS2, so it really wasn't a huge deal to most people.

- Linux support / OtherOS
Agreed, one of the dumbest things Sony ever did. They may as well have put up a giant sign that said "Hack me!"

- 2 USB ports
Never once used more than two USB ports, had the console for five years.

- Card reader
Never once used it.

- and now Folding@Home
Probably wasn't Sony that did this. The F@H guys are the ones who write the software, and given the low value of the PS3 to folding these days, it just wasn't worth the time to keep maintaining it.

Granted, we did gain other functionality over the years, but still unfortunate to see features cut.
Meh, little of value was lost (Linux on the PS3 was sweet). Much of value was gained. I call it a net positive result.

@(thillntn)I hope they hurry up and remove themselves from the gaming industry, small number of users or not $ony should not have removed linux.

You want them to get out of the GAMING industry for removing LINUX a thing that has nothing to do with gaming on the PS3....

[citation][nom]Tomfreak[/nom]software emulation do not really cost additional money since it was already developed. I am not sure why Sony removing it for "cost" saving. It doesnt make sense at all.[/citation]
They did it to sell HD collections

Software emulation was buggy and provided an inconsistent experience. Removing it boosts sales of PS2 consoles and rereleases slightly.

It's shitty for the customer, but makes sense from a business point of view.
