Ann Arbor, roughly an hour west of Detroit (though most Michiganers..err..whatever you call us..know of Ann Arbor)

I know very well of Ann Arbor, as I used to live there

I live in West Bloomfield; we got the whole day off yesterday, and a half-day today and tomorrow.

man, you rich people 😀

Not everyone in West Bloomfield is rich; there's a part which I call "redneck West Bloomfield", which is all small weekend cottages from the 70's. We live in a kinda-nice house in the nice part of West Bloomfield.

But you're right; a lot of the people in W.B. are (filthy) rich. What I find funny is that all the sophmores and juniors in my (freshman) math class (lol) are from these rich families; they all drive Cadillac, Infiniti, etc.

You should see the (student) parking lot at my school; the cars are nicer than those in the staff parking :). It makes sense, though; teachers get just above minimum wage :)

with the lake behind it

Every house in W.B. has a lake behind, in front of, on the side of, or at least near, it :)

Anyways, I like Ann Arbor because of all the cultural things it has, but west bloomfield is cool too

West Bloomfield is a nice place to retire, but there's absolutely nothing here aside from office buildings, houses, and strip malls. Trust me, I'd much rather live in Ann Arbor.

hahahaha thats funny because my last name is BROOMFIELD, but everyone always calls me "bLoomfield," pisses me off... now i know who i can blame, you Bloomfield Michigan-ers! >:|

yeah lionhardt doctors are pretty sweet 'n all, but ibuprofen has one hell of a chemical structure, we had to make 3D models in my chem class and that one took forever but it was the most fun

Yeah, if you want a nice large house and you're say a doctor, then west bloomfield is perfect, but my house has a gazillion stores next to it, a bunch of people my age, a few really big high schools, and especiall the U and it's stadium/basketball court

ugh! what pisses me off about where i live now, is that there's NOTHING near me... i guess thats Georgia for you. good lord, it sucks though, coming from a (by comparison) GOTHAM CITY, where i could walk everywhere and stuff... now you've gotta DRIVE to get ANYWHERE... no friends in walking/close range... grumble grumble... DINNER TIME

lol, I walk or bike to almost anywhere I want because of the structure of Ann Arbor, if you ever get the time, I think you should check it out, it has all the benefits of New York's big city 1337ness without the hours of traffic

Enjoy your dinner

Yea; downtown Ann Arbor, around U of M is really nice. Hopefully I will be going there in 3 years.

Enjoy your dinner

oh, it was fantastic, thank you for you good wishes. i think thats what made it so good 😀 yeah, i used to be able to bike and walk like you said, it was amazing, i willfully walked to school and all over the place (i say willfully because not everyone is a cross country runner like i), it was very nice, it was like pre-driving independence, i guess.

imo, printers, I know brother makes excellent cheap lasers color and black+white.

Now that's about the worst lie I've seen on this forum so far.
Most things to be read here are interesting and as true as the poster can possibly make it ..... but to say brother makes excellent printers ....
They make cheap ... yes .... and that's about as good as you can get a statement about their printers..... if it's for personal use with a windows mashine older than vista or server 2003 they're usable ... but go network, or disable kernel mode drivers and you're screwed ... and try running any piece of software that wants to use a proper language instead of brothers internal one ..... and you can't ....

In short .... they don't make excellent printers at all ... what they make is cheap stuff you can use and throw away once the toner's empty. You'll have to replace the drum after every few toners anyway, and that'll cost more than the printer.

Both of you chill. No need to get prissy over a printer.

Neiro, notice the IMO. That means In My Opinion. He's not stating it as fact, but as opinion.

Tacos, ignore those that jump to insults and calls of lies at the first sign.

I'm not saying you're the biggest liar in the forum, I can't know that without reading all of the forum. But I can damn sure say your statement regarding the brother printers is rubbish. I don't know if they've indeed been rated top notch in pcworld, but I can tell you that I don't know a single company other than a car service garage in germany that utilizes brother printers.
We were stupid enough to replace our kyocera ones with brother printers at some point in the past.... the net result was approx 20 printers that were no use at all, and about two or three that might still be in use. Personally I know of only one, and it is actually broken, it just happends to not be taken down yet....
The brother printers in an affordable priceclass are so poorly made, that they'll tarnish the paper real bad after at most a year of usage, or the sensors will fuck up telling you to shut the front or whatever ..... and did I mention the incompatibility with anything remotely standard? PCL, Jetdirect boxes (u can make most work with one, just not see the status page or use advanced printing options), or pcounter or anything else that depends on some kind of reasonable printing language?
Anyhow, to answer your question in a previous post. Yes I've actualyl got a brother printer at home .... and it's rubbish. Never had such a bad thing before, and my first printer was a star something-or-another matrix printer many years ago. And at my place of work my record is having a brother HL-1030 break 10 days after unpacking - drum overheating.
One of our hardware suppliers told us that the highend brother printers were fine .... but we've got copiers for highend stuff ....

In short, I've got plenty of experience with brother to know you're not telling the truth regarding their excellence. I won't deny that there can be a model, or serveral, that are adequate or even good, but overall they're pretty much the worst investment you can make. Rather pay a bit extra and get a hp clj 2600n (expensive in toner though, but very reliable) or a nice cheap epson than that brother.

To sum it up, Brother isn't excellent, and I know that, it's not just to miscredit someone I don't even know.

That isn't funny. You are the biggest liar in the forum for telling me your opinion. I hate you Tacos, I hate you!

/just kidding (Link doesn't even work)

lol i feel like such a noob, ive been on forumz all over the place and never understood what IMO meant 😛 now i know lol. awesome!

still, some dude got really mad at me for something that was posted a long time ago, so I think it is still somewhat alive

Sorry had to sleep and stuff .... anyhow, it doesn't really matter when you posted it unless it's more than 10 years ago....
I'd have to clarify that the initial quality of brother printers pretty much match any other printer, and so does speed. But it's a bit like the old french cars - cheap, but indurable and very likely to break even before the warrenty's up.

God tool, i hate you.

But i stil have a question for you.
How does your setup handle at 1680 x 1050?
Ill prolly build one with a little bit more power, and im jsut wondering if that will play most games at MAX at that res.

And how does the scaling down do?
Can you play at lower res's, but it jsut cuts off the edges?

I can't answer for him since my system's better than his .... but I've got a siemens 22" lcd, and you don't have to worry about losing parts of the image or the like .. dunno if all monitors are alike, but at least with mine, people will at most just end up looking a bit fat .... but a surprising number of games actually support that resolution. And if not you can run at 1280x900 and it'll be acceptable
