I have. I did not requested a new board though.
It's quite a hassle communicating with them.
In my initial complain, I stated what I have tried to correct the situation. The first reply I got (24 hours later) was a troubleshooting step a newborn would have thought about himself. Why do they think we all are stupid users?
I replied that I've already tried that. Never heard from them since (it's been a week now)! I believe this would go on and on before they would consider an RMA. So I'll just stop recommending Asus to my friends, family and clients for the time being. I've already ordered this DFI board to replace the other one. Looking forward to play around with it.

Salut Pat,
Well my new DFI is now up and running (finally) and it's working great. I had a problem at first booting with SATA drives, but everything is now OK. No problems at all playing whatever games. And the system works stable for hours.
WinXP, nVidia nForce drivers, Catalyst 4.4.
Actually, I find the sound from MCP-T better on this board than on my previous Asus A7N8X Deluxe board. But that's probably just me.

I stopped buying/selling ASUS boards about a year ago after recognizing their reduced quality and attention to detail. I now look for other boards.

One suggestion I might give you is to RMA the board as defective since they are claiming something is possible. Maybe you'll get an updated revision as part of the RMA.

Yes, that was suggested to me, but that will cost me shipping fees. I rather had the intention of keeping it, along with the XP2500+ I had and update my mother's computer with it. She'll be satisfied with that. It still works fine at FSB333.

I have the same mobo as you but never tried running a 200MHz FSB CPU on it. Anyway, the thing is that when the A7N8X-DX was initially released (all revisions prior to 2.0), they did not support 200MHz FSB since Nvidia's chipset did not. Later on, when Nvidia added this feature to their new chipset, Asus released a BIOS update along with the newer rev 2.00 mobos, claiming that the old mobos were also able to support the newer and faster FSB. They did not have to do this as almost no other company did the same thing, it was just a "bonus" to their customers. I can see why you are upset though, because since they claim support for 200MHz FSB through a BIOS update then that's what a customer expects to get. I believe their mistake was exactly this, the fact that they claimed 200MHz FSB support for all of their mobos when they didn't have to, and while this is only true for some of them.

Yup!
It's a Sil3114 chip.
It works fine. I've got 4 SATA channels and I'm using only two of those in Raid 0. Great so far!
