In reading the instructions on how to format - the FORMAT
command is not listed. It was much earlier when we got the
PC, but no longer... Is there a way to reload the commands
or the CD ROM drive with needed software ????

Here are the instructions below, but we do not get the
FORMAT as a selection... Thank you for your time...

========================================================

To format a disc:

Insert a disc into your recorder drive.

In My Computer, right-click your recorder drive.
The Use with DLA option in the popup menu should have a
check mark beside it. If this option is not selected,
follow the steps in Using DLA With Your Recorder Drive
before proceeding.

Click Format.

DLA's Format dialog box appears. The options available to
you will depend on the type of recorder drive you have.

Set the options in the Format dialog box.

Type a name for your disc in the Volume label text box.
Select either Quick or Full Format by clicking beside the
option you prefer. DLA can perform either a Quick or Full
format of your discs.

If you have an EasyWrite CD-RW drive, you will have the
option to create an EasyWrite disc by placing a check mark
beside Enable EasyWrite. (See Using DLA with EasyWrite
Drives for more information.)

Click Start.

If you selected Quick Format or you selected Full Format
and your drive supports background formatting, you will be
able to use your disc within minutes. If not, you must
wait until formatting is complete before you can write
files to your disc

Frank, do you have Nero or EZ CD creator software?

I believe that XP has no built-in capacity to use packet writing (UDF
format, which is used with Drive Letter Access, DLA for short).

This suggests that you previously had third-party software, which is not
currently installed.

If you can find the CD-burning software that was originally installed,
re-install it. (The commonest software is Easy CD Creator from Roxio, and
Nero from Ahead. There are several others, though.)

Good luck.

Address altered. Replace nkbob with bobkn.

Hi Rich,

No... I do not think we have either of those... We bought
the HP Pavillion over 1 year ago at Sams for under $600.
We have just recently tried to load some pics on it but
can't...

Is this software expensive ?? we have Windows XP...

Your advice is greatly appreciated !!!

Frank

Frank, your problem is a little puzzling since you say you do not have
any burner software installed. Did it
perhaps come on a Software CD that you got with the Computer? I found
this on Google.

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&q=DLA+Format&btnG=Google+Search

Check DLA FAQ also Quick Start Guide which is a pdf file and
you will need Acrobat Reader which you
can download free here. www.adobe.com and finally Sonic DLA with
Sony CDRW.
