So I have a prebuilt hp which is this:
https://support.hp.com/ca-en/document/c03531711
It came with 3 sticks of 4gb ram for a total of 12gb. Took one stick out. Now no matter what I do I cant get it to detect a third stick of ram when I put any back in. So my system is constantly running at 8gb ram. I've tested all slots and ram sticks non are faulty. Whats worse is Cpu- Z detects the ram at 12gb but the bios and windows don't and detect it at 8gb.
I threw a gtx 1060 3gb in there if it matters so its not a stock prebuilt.
I was thinking of buying this: https://www.newegg.ca/crucial-4gb-240-pin-ddr3-sdram/p/N82E16820148473
so i can have 4 sticks of 4gb ram for a total of 16gb if i can run in quad channel and non triple channel
no matter what i do i cant get the ram to run in triple channel like it came stock with the prebuilt.
the bios had to be flashed to the newest version cause of a prior issue.
