Hello.

I purchased the RX 580 8GB Armor OC few days ago and i plugged the RX580 into my PC, i get no signal to my monitor, razer keyboard and mouse show no light. PC Fans, PSU, GPU fans everything spins and works. But when i start the PC it boots off after maybe 15 seconds and boots up again. I took the PC and the GPU to a local computer shop the guy tested the RX580 on his machine it works perfectly so it's not the GPU issue since it works. I'm running the 520w seasonic and the guy said i need to upgrade it so i did i got the 700w coolermaster https://www.coolermaster.com/catalog/power-supplies/mwe-series/mwe-700-white-230v-v2/

and still the same problem with the new PSU and the PSU does work i tried it with my GTX 960 installed.

So i'm thinking it has to be the old BIOS keeping the RX 580 back and not working. And i can't update the BIOS and don't really know how to.

PC Specs:

Operating System
Windows 10 Home 64-bit
CPU
Intel Core i5 2400 @ 3.10GHz
Sandy Bridge 32nm Technology
RAM
16.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 665MHz (1333 mhz 1 stick) another is something else under that.
Motherboard
Foxconn H61MXL-K (SOCKET 0) LGA1155
Graphics
Standard Monitor (1920x1080@60Hz)
2047MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 (ZOTAC International)
Storage
465GB Seagate ST3500418AS (SATA )
931GB Western Digital WDC WD10EZEX-08M2NA0 (SATA )

please help

I'm running the 520w seasonic and the guy said i need to upgrade it so i did i got the 700w coolermaster https://www.coolermaster.com/catalog/power-supplies/mwe-series/mwe-700-white-230v-v2/

If you can still return the PSU, please do so & get your money back. Absolutely no need to upgrade the PSU at this stage.

So i'm thinking it has to be the old BIOS keeping the RX 580 back and not working. And i can't update the BIOS and don't really know how to.

It sounds like a BIOS compatibility issue - but Foxconn were hardly known for reliably releasing updated BIOS'. I wouldn't be surprised if an update didn't exist.

Do you have the updated BIOS file? Unfortunately, Foxconn's "support" website, that used to...

1. At this point, I’m happy with the upgrade gives me a feature upgrade path so don’t need to worry about the PSU for a while, the old PSU has mustard cables (coloured) with some black cover thing but still visible, new PSU has full black which just looks better in my opinion, and it’s a better quality PSU.

2. I’ve been on their website before they took it down few months ago I believe, I tried to update bios some months ago but it wasn’t needed back then so I didn’t because I couldn’t be bothered.

3. I’ve seen posts about the same problem people had on different forums, people updated BIOS on same motherboard and GPUs worked. I believe it’s possible since others done it and i just need to figure out how or completely upgrade to Ryzen or Intel and have new components DDR4 etc, don’t want to though but will if I need to + need to save money.

4. I do have files I found the files on a website and people say that it’s the version that’s needed to run new GPUs so yeah.. just how do I use the files to update is the problem? Foxconn does have a program but it doesn’t work it worked before like I could use it but now it freezes when I open it it’s very weird. It’s like a utility program where you put the files onto it and update the motherboard.

1. It's not really "better' in quality. It's a more modern design, but it's not much beyond that.

2. Should just be a matter of having the BIOS file on a USB stick (probably formatted FAT32), entering the BIOS and following the prompts to flash. You don't want to do it inside Windows.

3. A BIOS update should fix it, there's no reason a board of that era would have an outright compatibility issue - but Foxconn are a little different, so no guarantees.

4. Be careful with random files you find online. Ensure it's a reputable source, and scan the file(s) for any malicious activity. A BIOS file should be pretty safe, but you never know.
When you enter your BIOS, do you have an option for "Flash" or "Update"? Not exactly sure how Foxconn phrased it, but most (all?) non-OEM boards should allow you to update the BIOS with a USB stick with the file on it, from inside the BIOS itself.

Do I just put all the files onto a USB then go to the BIOS and select the USB? There is a option to select the USB I believe I seen someone do that on a video. Also could you please check the BIOS it looks like one of them old simple BIOS there is images and videos online, and see if there is another option that you’re looking for?

I really think this bios update will make my RX 580 work as I don’t see any other problem, everything works with my GTX 960 fine so like I’m hoping it will fix as it fixes other people’s problems so.

Looks like "Fox Control Center"?

Should be under "smart BIOS", but not 100% sure. If you could post images of your BIOS specifically, that would be easier...

Im having similar problems with my H61MXL-K. There doesnt seem to be anything to flash the bios within Fox Control Centre. Ive tried using memory stick formatted to Fat32 with .bin file and a flashing file, but when I reboot PC it doesnt find it and goes onto load Windows. In windows there isnt an option to upgrade the bios when I use Repair PC function.....

Any ideas as I have bought upgraded video card and power supply so dont want to scrap them and buy a new PC.
