I'm experiencing severe FPS drops. It's not a smooth dip from 60 to 58, but a sudden freeze that lasts for a microsecond. This wasn’t a problem before when I was using integrated graphics and an older motherboard. After numerous tests, I’ll list everything I’ve tried below. Please take a look—I’ve covered even the obvious solutions.
My setup:
CPU: Ryzen 5 4600G
GPU: RX 6600 Asrock Challenger
Motherboard: MSI B450M Pro VDH Max
RAM: 2x8GB T-Force 3000MHz
PSU: Corsair CV650
SSD: Crucial BX500 (System + MC 1.8.9)
NVMe SSD: Lexar MN620 512GB M.2 (Games)
Monitor: LG Ultragear 144Hz FreeSync
Interestingly, not all games are affected. I had no issues with JC3 and TW3, but others like L4D2, GTA V/Online, and MC 1.8.9 show FPS drops.
In MC 1.8.9, opening the inventory causes an immediate drop of about 10 FPS (e.g., from 144 to 134), sometimes more, sometimes less. Other actions, like hitting a mob or entering water, also cause noticeable drops, which really ruins my experience, especially since the game is over 10 years old and should run fine.
GTA V has random FPS drops, especially during cutscenes. There are also stutters in some areas, even on low settings.
L4D2 freezes randomly, especially during the first few minutes of gameplay.
I’ve tried a lot of solutions, so here's a list of everything I’ve done:
I’ve practically rebuilt my PC and still deal with more issues than enjoyment. If anyone has experienced this before or has any other suggestions, please let me know. Every failed attempt just makes me more frustrated
