FPS Drop good pc

while playing (in fortnite only i haven't tried others games yet)
my fps is high and my temps are gpu: 60-68°C and cpu 38-42°C
but i get fps drop to 40 fps and then the fps goes up to normal (fps drop happens only once in a game)
any idea what is the problem here?
specs:
cpu: i7 8700
gpu: gtx 1070 Ti
ram: 16gb 2133mhz
and i only have a ssd 256gb

Have you checked your CPU usage and GPU usage while it's running? Also, make sure nothing in the background is using your resources. There is no way you should be getting that kind of FPS issues with that hardware.

cpu usage 20-30% gpu 60-99%
nothing runing in background only msi afterburner

It doesn't make sense that your GPU usage is that high. It shouldn't be hitting 99% usage at all. Even hitting above 60% usage doesnt make sense especially playing fortnite. Is steam running in the background? have you done an entire uninstall of drivers, and made sure you have the latest drivers? I would make sure to completely uninstall all your nvidia drivers and start fresh. Here are the instructions if you didnt know.
