My PC Specs:
i7 10700k
rtx 3080
32gb ram
RM750 power supply (iirc)

Was playing doom 2016 day before yesterday and noticed a big fps drop when I was in an area where there were a lot of monster activities and was surprised to see this given I have 32gb ram and a decent CPU and GPU.

I will try get hwinfo from day before yesterday hopefully it's there and post it here to give as much details as possible.

I recently tried to dual boot with windows 7 but that failed as it is not supported by z490 motherboard, so motherboard was reset and only RAM xmp profile chosen and time changed, nothing else.

Is it a game issue.

What fps were you normally getting, and what has it dropped to? What settings in game do you use?
I don't know how much FPS drop was, I just know that I was playing the game smoothly until when I reached a scene full of monster activity, it came down to a snail's pace, like literally below 10.

I have the game settings at High Graphic Settings. I am also running windows 10. Prefer it over the Windows 11 look.

I just did passmark and it was in the green category, so test went well I just played doom again and it was smooth and I couldn't get it to react like the way it did before and I was running hwinfo log and nothing. hwinfo doesn't keep a history of logs without running the log.

So I can't access the previous time I played.

EDIT: So I continued playing and noticed lag so I quickly paused and ran hwinfo, the lag went before returningthere were some lags, which was good and looking through the hwinfo log to check clock speed and memory and they were ok. Core clocks reaching 4696Mhz to 4700Mhz.

But the core effective clocks were reaching around and below 100 even 18, this happened.
Below is the data when it was low. Max values reach 1000.

Try changing it to High performance and see if it keeps up. Another thought is to monitor your gpu temps, since you used it for mining you could have dried out the cooling pads on the memory. You could have it running hot and slowing.

I will change it to high and see.

As to the cooling pads, I upgraded the cooling pad's of the GPU already when I was mid mining .

Below is gpu temp when the glitch happened. Top value is max and bottom value is min from the entire log.

Just played doom again and ran hwinfo and played the game and the lowest core effective clock reached was 4.3Mhz, 4.4Mhz, 4Mhz, etc.

Below is the table from hwinfo. Top value is max value it reached and below is the lowest it reached.

The lowest it reaches 0 and max is 119.6 , so the problem it seems is that when it reaches over 1000?

My power supply is EVGA Supernova G2 750

Maybe enabling gpu accelerated graphics and variable refresh rate might fix it, but will need to try on another game, as I finished doom game. In the middle of Cyberpunk, but never experienced lag there, so not sure. Will look for a cpu intensive game and try it.
