Hi! Thanks for looking at my problem.
I have created a different thread before and now I try to take a different approach to my investigation. 😛
I have a Gtx 1080
I5 6500
16 gb of DDR4 RAM

I get minor and sometimes major fps drops in games like GTAV and Ghost Recon wildlands.
While I'm playing GTA V my CPU is maxing out and while playing Ghost recon my HDD is making.
Is there a chance my HDD is affecting fps? And is it possible as well that an i5 6500 is a bit weak for gta v?

Thanks a lot!

Solution
gta asks for a lot of cpu, what product offers more cpu atm? i7

if you can't afford or you are not sure about this, keep the i5 you have, it is all i can tell you apart from lower image option in gta and all what has been mentioned previously that seems you are ready to ask again because you don't find it as a viable response

the only other place they can help you is steam or rockstar severs, something tells me that they will tell you the same, buy a ssd, change to a i7 and play with graphical settings untill you get what you want
the hard disk if it is failing or is slow will affect load times for gta, textures mostly is what you load all the time form a hard disk when playing gta and you need to load them as fast as possible

about the i5, well, most people end up reporting that gta wants to have not 1 but 2 i7 and is not enough, respecially with that gpu you have, surely working over 1080p correct? so yes, bigger cpu could help there too, especially with some of the effects applied to the game

With 16GB ram you should be able to load the game into ram so there shouldn't be HDD accessing. Your line " While I'm playing GTA V my CPU is maxing out and while playing Ghost recon my HDD is making. " your HDD is making what or did you mean maxing?

Completely forgot to mention all that. I'm gaming at 1440@60fps. My HDD passes health tests but still drops frames and sometimes when I reach a new area in game it's not completely loaded like the marks on road and buildings.
Any idea what can I upgrade to make a difference?

Getting a new HDD gonna make a difference?
Also, if I upgrade my CPU, from an i5 6500 to what do you recommend?
Thanks a lot!

I meant maxing :)
What does it mean loading into RAM?
Thanks!

apps/files loaded into ram means that the processor made a copy from the hard disk to the ram, to work the files faster

it is done automatically by the cpu when there is enough time and resources

in general you mention also cpu bottleneck, get a faster cpu, also add a ssd to the machine, for gta, it does help

So upgrading the HDD won't make a difference in game?
Also, upgrading from an i5 6500 to a let's say i5 6600k is enough on an upgrade?
Thanks!

I keep hearing how i7 are no good for gaming.
So what's the verdict? I watch YouTube videos showing how fps is much more stable on the i7 but the narrator keeps saying how an i7 is only for editors etc. Can you help me decide please?
