I have been having issues with streaming, I have messed around with my settings and it still doesn't help. My specs are a i7-6700k with a evga 1080 ftw card. I have 2 1440p 144hz monitors which I set it to downscale at 720p for twitch. I have 3500 for my bit-rate because of twitch, I have even tried dropping it to 2000. When I start my twitch stream my in game fps is around 100+ but around 10-15 minutes into my stream it starts dropping and gets to the point of around 25-35 fps which is almost unplayable. I have my CPU temps and GPU temps open and they aren't reaching more than 60C. I also have fiber internet which I get a down and up of 800-900 mbps (i know maybe overboard). Could my bit-rate be too low on OBS? I don't want to raise it because people wouldn't be able to watch my streams. I even tried setting my monitors to 1080p and streaming that way and I get the same fps drop in games. The twitch dashboard tells me my stream quality is excellent but that is hard to believe since I'll have viewers and then they just end up leaving, I find it to be my stream quality and it is very aggravating. I cant find a fix anywhere.

Solution
Yes actually, it could be, you want one or the other, not both at the same time.

OBS also has an instant replay feature, but you have to set it up a bit.

Unfortunately that did not work, I even tried turning G-sync off too but it would still occur at the same time.

UPDATE:
So I downloaded OBS classic and without changing really any of the settings I managed to get through a 45 min recording using NVENC at 30 fps on 1440p. It stayed at 144hz for the whole 45 min. This, in my eyes is a OBS studio issue. As much as I hate obs classic over studio I'll have to stick with it for now. Does anyone know why OBS studio would affect it but not Classic?

I downloaded OBS studio and kept the output setting page to simple it works fine, the recording looks like crap but it works that was even with NVENC. But as soon as I set it to advanced that's when it does the fps drop. Very strange but I will let them know! Thank you for all the help, great site with great people!

If you go to advanced you have to do additional config settings.

How would I go about checking that? My recording output is set to my 2tb HDD separate from my 3tb for my games. But I didn't know streams could be written.

Once it stalls, you might Alt-Tab out of the game, so it paused in the background, AND is not refreshing the screen. Give it a few minutes like that, at least until disk-write activity stops (whichever comes last).

The buffer space on a mechanical HDD could be even lower. Add a cheap 120GB SSD and write your output to that; see if the behavior changes.

I've been testing the local recordings on my 500GB ssd, the same issue keeps on happening. Could it be that I am also running Nvidia shadow play? I mean technically its always recording because of the instant replay and you can record the previous 1-20 minutes with it.

I've had nothing but problems when trying to record using the features built in GeForce Experience. Sometimes it cuts out like ten seconds in and then GeForce Experience forgets that I even have the game installed, sometimes it simply doesn't record even though it says it is, and other times it drags my system down to its knees. For a GPU optimized program to bring an i5 6600K to its knees is simply sad. Nvidia, you had my respect with GeForce Experience until mid 2016, then you've been nothing but disappointing.

The way to get it to stop bugging you is to launch GeForce Experience, click the little gear up at the top right (opens Settings), and turn off the Share option that should be in the menu in the middle of the app.

If your luck is the same as mine, Nvidia Share will continue to run in Task Manager until you restart several times, uninstall and reinstall everything Nvidia, get really mad at your system bc it's still running even though it's turned off and then finally just get rid of everything Nvidia and let Windows Update pull through a relevant driver for your graphics card. Hopefully it works for you because my copy of GeForce Experience was just a nightmare.

Hi dude.
I read all the thread, and either I didn't read it correctly (english isn't my native language), but i couldn't find a final solution.
I'm currently facing the exact same problem as you, except I'm running with i5 6600K and 1070, but i can play Rainbow 6 siege at 144 fps without any problem, but as soon as I maunch the stream, 10 to 15 minutes after, I get the same fps drops to 20 fps as you.

I tried everything you listed up, except for OBS classic, since I can't have a decent mic sound on it.

Have anyone found a reliable and durable fix??

Thanks a lot for all your answer, would be a pleasure to help you for whatever I can!

Hi.
Shame, because I really like the fact I can record hot moments on the run. But tahnks a lot for the answer. I'll try this ASAP and make my own thread if not fixed.

Thank a lot everyone!
