FPS issues with CS:GO with Ryzen and a 1080 TI

Hey there,

I bought myself a new PC around 2 months ago and I was pretty hyped for it, as it was the first one after 4 years or so and after getting a nice job I actually spent alot more than I originally planned. So I ended up at ~2200€, just wanted to mention it so that its maybe easier to understand why I'm so confused.

Key hardware of the PC (as I think those are the important ones):

Ryzen 1700X
1080 TI
16 GB RAM - 3000MHz
playing my games from a SSD
ASUS monitor with 144hz

I'm mainly playing CS:GO and sometimes a bit of World of Warcraft. I had an Xeon 1230v3 with a R9 290 before and could run WoW at decent settings and CS:GO at stable 250-300 fps usually.
So after I got my new PC I was pretty excited to see what could have changed (altho I knew those games are kinda old and/or not perfectly programmed for the newer stuff like multicore cpus). I dont expect something ridiculous or magical to happen but I definately didnt want to have worse results as before with a 900€ build.

So in WoW (I dont play it alot so thats kinda ok to me, but it still bugs me of course) I run with medium/high settings - just as I did before with the same fps as before.
In CS:GO (this is definately the main issue here for me, as I dont play alot of current games) my fps are jumping between 120 and 180 for 99% of the time. As I use a 144hz monitor this is for sure annoying as hell and shouldnt be the result of that build.

Yet I have no clue whats wrong and what I could change since I'm not the best and experienced guy when it comes to these matters. I've read about the DVR thing, and already disabled it, nothing changed. I have updated my gpu drivers just today and that also didnt help at all.
I also installed this ParkControl tool from that bitsum site, that I've read alot about on reddit and other sources. Didnt change a single fps as well for me.

I usually play CS:GO on 1920x1080, but even changing to a lower resolution would only change 10-15 fps. Changing settings in CS:GO doesnt change anything. VSync is deactivated. Multi-core rendering is activated.


I knew that this setup isnt made for those older games but I just cant imagine that its performing so poorly so that its almost useless for my purposes and is miles behind 4-6 year old hardware.
It feels like I'm missing something and I dont have the knowledge to find it out.


So here I am asking for any help I could get, if I forgot something or missed an important part just ask/tell me and I will gladly add it.

I have a similar setup and my fps is pretty much all the time around 300.
You can check/benchmark different parts separately and compare them with online results. Severe fps issues are usually the GPU.

How and where to do it? Maybe I can post results here then, as I prolly wont be able to "read" the results correctly.

120-180 is too low for that sort of game.
I agree with nonsleeper, you can check your CPU with:
Geekbench and Cinebench, or even CPUZ.
Then check your GPU with Valley, Heaven, Furmark etc.
Best way to check memory is with memtest.

Your furmark min fps seems quite lower than what it should be. Your CPU is also about 10% below what it should be but that shouldn't cause the drastic fps drop that you are experiencing.
I'd suggest checking your system with another GPU, and see if the problem persists.Also, run other games and compare them with online results. It can very well be a software that you have installed or crypto mining malware on your system.

Already made several complete new windows installations, same as different anti virus/malware stuff before and after that - without any success.

So right now the only "issue" I see is my RAM running at 2133 instead of 3000, but no clue if that should be such big of an issue. 🙁

It's not. Ram has about 10% effect max.
Most probably it is the GPU, or your PCIe/power delivery system/motherboard.

So is there a chance for someone like me to sort that out? Dont mean to "fix" or "repair" it, but at least know whats wrong?

Try the following tips, one might be a huge problem:

• 
  Turn wallpaper into a solid colour
  Adjust settings for best performance
  Disable some startup programs
  Turn off power saving settings in the control panel
  Remove windows defender
  Make start and taskbar menu opaque
  Turn of tipping
  Download CCleaner and clean your PC, using the registry fixer
  Delete unnecessary programs
  Unpark CPU
  Go through files manually and delete old files and empty folders
  Run a disk cleanup
  Delete Cortana
  Delete Edge
  Download Defraggler and do a disk defrag, then stop windows defauld defragmenter
  Download driver updater and keep your drivers up to date

Ask if you want help on any of these.

And it seems its getting worse and worse.. right now my CS fps are from 70-120 and its almost unplayable.

I just ran this to get a rough summary. But can I really have results like from a 300-400€ build only because of a non-overclocked CPU and RAM that is only running on 2133 (altho it is 3000 usually, but just wont work for me)?


I'm really losing hope atm and I'm that close of selling my CPU, mainboard and RAM on ebay and buy me a common i7 7700k with a new board and RAM so I don't have to deal with this annoying heavy underperformance. 🙁

Did you try your Graphics Card in another pc? Your GPU is showing an unusually low min fps in furmark.

If you think that Ryzen 1700x gets 70-120 and is unplayable in CS that is not correct. If you want a 7700k go for it, but the problem you explain is not the "brand" of your CPU at all. Even if your PC is really getting that low fps because of "CPU" either some component is faulty or you have a malware hugging resources on your PC.

Easy to check either way, just run stress tests and benchmarks on your CPU to make sure it is not faulty, like Cinderbench, AIDA64, Prime95, etc.
Run benchmarks on your graphics card, did you run heaven and valley? Did you run any other game? What are the results?

It is not a "Ryzen" problem if you are thinking that. With the same setup (except 1700 not x) I never drop below 250, also get 240+ in overwatch. So you definitly have a problematic component or software on your PC, the suggesstion to check your components separately is a good one. Have you checked other games? How does it work in overwatch or BF1?
