A friend of mine told me that in windows 2000 professional version there was a frames per second limitation of 75. Can anyone confirm this or is he full of you know what?

Or is it another issue with my system?

My video card is a Radeon VE and when I play Unreal tournament at (640x480) the fps contantly peaks and averages in the low 70's. When I go to a higher resolution (1024x768) it will also peak in the low 70's and average in the low to mid 60's. Is it my video card?

Here are some more specifications for the rest of my system:
DX8
biostar mv7kd (via kt133a chipset) (latest 4 in 1 drivers)
384 mb pc 133
30 gig ata 100 western digital
30 gig ata 66 quantum fireball

I've never run a Radeon. I'm just not crazy about ATI. So I won't speculate about the card. But ... is your AGP aperture setting in the BIOS at least 128? Is the card set for AGP 4X? Are you using the latest drivers for the card?

You might consider using a tweaking program for the card that will allow you to adjust the speed of the Direct 3D and OpenGL drivers.

But as for the FPS limitation in Win2k ... ROTFLMAO! Of course not! For example, I <i>average</i> 105.6 FSP when playing a game like MDK2 under Win2k. And that's at 1024x768x32, with every setting on high, and the hardware-accelerated sound enabled.

Better buy a good pair of hip-waders if you are going to listen to anymore of your friend's "expertise". That's pretty funny! <GRIN>

You might enjoy running a good benchmarking program, to see what kind of performance you are really getting out of the card.

Pick up a copy of 3DMark2000, or 2001, and compare your scores to the other people at the site. It's a good way to help narrow down specific problems. Or at least help you figure out which questions to ask.

See ya ...

yeah, vsync, amigo!! your pal is off target on that one. there should be an option in the radeon settings to disable vsync. do this. vsync sets you maximum FPS to your monitors refresh rate.....

ignore everything i say

Thanks a bunch, you guys are auewsome. You were right about the vertical sync. Now I am getting my fps up into the hundreds now. Ussually I average at between 100-120 and on occasion it will max out at 170
