FPS problems in multiple games

I have a GTX 970 with an AMD FX8320 and I'm only getting between 40-60 fps on games like Farcry 3 and Borderlands 2 on only high settings without AA, is there something wrong if so how could I fix it?

probably the processor bottle necking your GPU, how much RAM do you have?

I have the same problem with my 8350 at times, going to be switching to a 4 core in the future if more games dont start utilizing all 8 cores.

I have 8 GB of RAM

I'd try adding another 8gb of RAM and seeing if that helps with the issue. Otherwise you'll probably just end up having to switch to a 4 core in the future.
