I was wondering why I am lagging in fortnite on ultra settings. I was thinking it could be the pc specs but I don't know for sure.
Basically what I did was upgrade a 400 g1 microtower with a better psu (550w bronze) and graphics card (rx 580).
The pcs core is a i5-4570 with an 180e motherboard and add 16gb ddr3 1600mhz. I was also wondering if this could be considered a good gaming pc.

In my opinion, it’s kinda hard to say for certain whether a gaming PC is “good” or not. That being said, your build sounds pretty good to me. You could definitely build something ridiculously powerful if you had the money, but most games on the market these days don’t need those kinds of specs to run smoothly anyways.

This article from PC Gamer talks about the FPS on Epic settings with various graphics cards. Your graphics card should be getting around 80-100 FPS on Epic according to this. You can fine tune the settings a bit to ensure you’re getting the best performance possible.

If you wanted to go crazy, you could do another graphics card upgrade to the $1300 RTX 2080 Ti for around 200 FPS. You could also save yourself the money and just turn your graphics down to medium to get the same FPS on your current setup.

If you’re getting significant lag to the point where the game is unplayable or if your FPS is lower than 60, that might be a different issue. Otherwise, I think most of this just comes down to how much you’re willing to spend to get crazy good performance on Fortnite.

If I were you, just turn it down to medium. It’ll nearly double your performance and save you a ton of money and trouble.

As you go up in GPUs, then your CPU starts to become less viable. Also would help to know the exact power supply; whiel there's some correlation, Bronze is a measure of efficiency, not of a PSU's overall quality.

If you plug your current build into PCPartPicker, you’ll be able to see what graphics cards are compatible with it currently. You can also select whichever higher end card you want, and it’ll show you which other parts you’d need to replace to make it work. It’s a really great tool for PC builds in general, since it makes sure everything is compatible for you.

If you plug your current build into PCPartPicker, you’ll be able to see what graphics cards are compatible with it currently. You can also select whichever higher end card you want, and it’ll show you which other parts you’d need to replace to make it work. It’s a really great tool for PC builds in general, since it makes sure everything is compatible for you.

If you download CPU-Z it'll tell you everything about your machine.
You can give this a try for sure, and report the specs back here. That should be enough information to tell what graphics cards it's compatible with.

However, since I understand that you're working with a factory PC, I honestly think it might be best to just make a custom build from scratch. You'll likely need a new motherboard and CPU for the fancier graphics cards, and if you're modifying a factory PC, I'm not sure you can swap those things out so easily. They're typically not made to be customized.

You might be able to reuse some of your current components in a custom build, like your PSU, monitor, and possibly the case. However, you'll likely need a new motherboard, CPU, CPU cooler, and GPU.

Of course, if your current build is good enough for now, you can always save up your money for the new components and do one big upgrade in the future.

That's the plan. It seems like it shouldn't be to hard to customize it. Because I have done it before. Like swapping out the psu and adding a rx 580. Of course if i want to upgrade I'll most likely need a new motherboard the most. If you could can you please list the things I will need to do to upgrade from this motherboard in the future? Thanks.
