Well, I need a decent yet cheap 4.1 surround sound system. I'm thinking of either the Creative PCWorks FPS1000 or the Altec Lansing ACS 54. Which would you recommend? Remember, I need a 4.1 system that's within the same price range as these two systems ($60-$80 CDN).

I've decided to get the ACS54 because it has a wooden subwoofer which is supposed to produce truer bass.

allteck lansings are nice
(i had one once - a 2 sattelite 1 woofer package)

problem is since then iver listened to a few different varietys and they seem to lack a bit of strength in the middle range.
good bass and high frequencys, but poor mid range drive.
the inherent problem with using small sattelites with only one cone, i suppose.
thats why i run all my audio through my hi-fi system now *grins*

That is a good shoice as the wood sub can go more deeper than the plastic one in your other choice. Make sure when you buy the speakers tha you get the extended warrentee on it so that if you blow your speaker, they can give you a new one for free. ( I know that Best Buys offers this arrangment.)

If it works for you then don't fix it.
