Hi there,
just downloaded the latest amd catalyst driver.
It's now got something called FRTC.

It essentially seems to simply 'cap framerates'....
which seems strange as you can already set the maximum fps in the launch console e.t.c...
(for example in steam: fps_max 61 ...)

However, i don't really know much about computers ,,,
so what's the benefit of using this software?
- the article i read said: lower heat, power and noise - which is great..

Is that all this FRTC update does?. as i mentioned - you could already do this yourself?
bit confused..

and i was under the impression that: more frames {to an extent} was generally better (even on a 60hz monitor)

thanks,
J

Hey yeah this is a great question, can Tom's please review this! I bet it makes for a way better experience because the thermal headroom is saved, allowing the cards to work harder when they have to. This would feature would certainly raise the minimum frame rates! Making for an overall better gaming experience by eliminating the studder points where the GPU needs to work harder but can't because its being thermally limited!
