Framedrops in games + 100% CPU usage

Hello, I have recently upgraded my pc from a GTX 950 to a GTX 1070ti, but now I have framedrops all the time in certain games.

For example, when I play Battlefield 1, i have on ultra settings 80-130 FPS, which is good in my opinion, but I have frame stutters and drops all the time which is very annoying.

When i look in task manager it does say my CPU usage is 100% like almost all the time, and sometimes it goes down to maybe 90%, and my Physical memory is also very high, even when idle.

My specs are:
CPU: i5-7600k
GPU: GTX 1070 ti
Ram: 8gb (2x4gb)
MB: MSI h110m pro-d
Storage: 2x SSD (BF1 is on the SSD) + HDD
Power: 500W

I looked on the internet, but I only found people saying that my CPU shouldn't bottleneck my GPU, so I really don't know what's going on.

Thanks in advance!

But will upgrading my RAM to 16Gb fix the 100% CPU usage and framedrops?

What's happening here is your cpu bottlenecking your gpu and the reason you didn't have framedrops or stutter on the 950 was because your cpu still had headroom since the 950 was constantly at 100%.

So, the only solution is to upgrade my CPU?

That should fix most issues (except when you run out fo ram). However getting a 7700k is not a good investment since they are still selling for about the same price as a 8700 and thje 8700 is much faster.

Sorry but that's incorrect. He wasn't running on Ultra with the 950 so he wasn't maxing out his 8GB of ram. Now he is running Ultra with the 1070ti.

FYI: An i5 7600k will not bottleneck a 1070ti. I have before and after benchmarks when we upgraded my nephews PC from an i5 6600k to an i7 7700k with his GTX 1080 OC's. His futuremark FPS numbers were nearly identical.
