Is there a free windows utility to test the performance of RAM, not just read out its clock speed or timing specs?

When I google this I get a lot of results on memory tests that checks for memory error. That is not what I want.

I want to test the RAM performance before and after adding more RAM to my pc, to make sure I'm not slowing it down.

Try using Task Manager, Resource Monitor, and Process Explorer (Microsoft, free)

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/process-explorer

There is also Microsoft's Performance Monitor - you may be able to obtain additional performance information.

Performance Monitor

Try all of the tools but only one tool at a time. Get a sense of what information is provided and then work out how you may be able to use that information for the required RAM performance comparisons.

Do "before" measurements then add RAM and do "after" measurements.

Another options is PowerShell memory related Get cmdlets.

E.g.:

https://java2blog.com/powershell-get-memory-usage-percentage/

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/a...o-retrieve-cpu-and-memory-metrics-(max-min-av

Key is to be methodical in the testing process and to ensure that only the amount of installed RAM is changed between measurements.

So long as you've got the same ram kit as you've got currently(and not on a different PCB revision number as Corsair tends to have) you shouldn't see any slow downs.

Make and model of your motherboard, ram and processor? BIOS version for your motherboard?
