Free sync with nvidia card

I can have a nice deal on a 4k minitor using freesync. I have a gtx 980 Ti Strix. Will it be compatible? Noob here

Freesync is an AMD technology - it won't work with your Nvidia GPU.

the screen will work but you cannot use Freesync (adaptive sync). it will just be a normal 4K display.
