ive been expiriencing these freezes that happen once in a while. at first one app decides to freeze which allows me able to use all the other apps on the computer that are open at the time, but trying to shut down the computer, searching using windows search bar, trying to close or end the task of frozen app doesnt work. then at the time i try using task manager, which opens then makes me hard crash, which just makes my whole computer freeze, and i am not able to move the mouse or use any inputs, and i am forced to hold the pc power button, basically meaning once that "freeze" happens im forced to hold the pc button.

I've run gpu, cpu, ssd and ram stress tests and i havent noticed anything unusual.

also ive kept my task manager opened waiting for me to get to that "freeze" point and still nothing unusual shown other than maybe ssd being 0% power usage, which i am not sure if its supposed to be at that time.

ive tried reinstalling Windows 11 twice now but still no luck.

the frozen apps were ranging between discord, games and even small apps.

i'd appreciate any help thank you

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

ive tried reinstalling windows twice now but still no luck.
Did you recreate your bootable USB installer for Windows 11? Installing the OS in offline mode while all other drives that aren't meant for the OS are disconnected? Manually installing all drivers in an elevated command while not connected to the www?

specs: ryzen 7800x3d, 4070ti, samsung 990 pro, 32 gb 6000mhz ram
When posting a thread of troubleshooting nature, it's customary to include your full system's specs. Please list the specs to your build like so:
CPU:
CPU cooler:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:
include the age of the PSU apart from it's make and model. BIOS version for your motherboard at this moment of time.

the frozen apps were ranging between discord, games and even small apps.
Elaborate on the titles and names of the app's you're using as well as where you've sourced the installers for said games and app's.

Did it ever work well or did you always have the problem since you got the PC? If the problem started recently, did you change anything on the computer (RAM, BIOS update)? This is capital information that I couldn't find in your post.

Also, did you enable expo for your RAM? If you did, try to reset the BIOS settings to default ( and leave the memory at default settings, no expo) and see if the problem still happens.

I have a 9800x3d and 64 GB 6000 MHz CL30 RAM kit and I had to change the timing to CL32 otherwise I had freezes and PC crashes (been working great after that). You may have a similar problem (maybe not, but it costs nothing to try).

ive had my pc for a few years now, its been working very well until quite recently.
i do have expo enabled i will try leaving it at default settings, thats the only thing i had change in bios.

also no i havent changed anything in my pc, the only thing that i did was change to windows 11 from windows 10 like 6 months ago, but my crashes have only been happening for like a month. basically no settings or anything changed in my pc for a while.

i did try to turn off expo and i still keep crashing. im really exhausted trying to fix this. i have no idea why its happening

I know I will tell you something unpopular here, but check case. I have read about case where one user had random freezes and PC would shutdown itself and and it turns out case somehow was touching or bending motherboard which was causing those freezes. So, just in case, check that area.

thank you i will check that out

you might consider, google how to force a memory dump using a keyboard, set the registry keys and at the next lockup force a kernel memory dump using the keyboard.
then post the memory.dmp file on a server, share it for public access and post a link.

you might also search your drive for .dmp files
and post them also. (for windows live dumps, game dumps, and minidumps)

you can use a cmd.exe shell run as admin then run
c:\
dir /s *.dmp > c:\outfile.txt
notepad.exe c:\outfile.txt (to look at the list)

most fixes involve update of bios, update of motherboard drivers, remove overclocks. (just in case you have not done so)

note: for AIO cpu coolers that are connected to USB ports. Make sure you go into device manager, find the usb port, right click it to bring up properties and tell windows not to turn of the device to save energy. You do not want the usb to power down your cooler, sometimes it will not wake up and the cpu overheats.

Windows BSOD dumps you'll find in C:\Windows\Minidumps
Windows live dumps (for recovered failures) you'll find in C:\WIndows\LiveKernelReports
Game dumps you'll find in the game's installation folder (for Steam games they are in folders under C:\ProgramFiles (x86)\Steam, for example)
