Hello Community.
I need help or advice what to do next because something here is driving me crazy.
rig
CPU: Ryzen 7 1700, on 3.0ghz no OC
RAM: GSkill F4-3200C14D-16GTZ
PSU: Corsair SF600w
gpu: AMD Radeon r9 270x stock OC gigabyte windforce 2gb
mobo: ASRock fatality x370 gaming itx/ac
Storage: SSD Samsung PM961 512GB PCIe M.2
I built this PC few days ago, and immediately after i was watching 1080p streams for long hours, playing Dota 2 and stuff, No problem.
When i built the PC i updated the BIOS because of the AGESA 1.0.0.6 Update which enables higher Memory Clocks.
I couldn't run the RAM XMP profile on 3200mhz from start, couldn't post, I decided to touch things like timings in some of the next days or weeks, so I put my ram on 2933mhz and it was fine.
I moved the PC to the other place where I live and something started to happen.
First time I noticed it, I was playing Dota 2 and suddenly Buzzing from my speakers + very close to impossible to move the mouse, the PC, mouse, was freezing. I managed to close Dota 2 from task manager and it got fixed. Then I rejoined and finished my game without problem. Then second time on the other day this happened again while playing Dota 2, this time happened fast after i started game, I think I rebooted the PC.
I knew something is not cool so i started with my ram.
Removed the XMP profile and set it to auto so it was on 2133 mhz default/auto values.
I started playing Dota 2 and few games the problem didn't appear so i thought it is the ram that is not stable.
Ran memtest for windows: not 100% coverage but near 1h 30min near 60-5% coverage.
No errors.
Ran memtest86 once for 4 hours and once for 5 hours after that. I stopped it because i saw people were talking about some newer version of memtest86 v5 or something but even second time i thought i downloaded the MemTest86 V7.4 version but again when the problem was running in red it was saying version 4.
No errors, one of the tests was saying pass: 1, so only 1 pass.
I ran prime95
for a bit more than 2 hours.
no errors.
I actually didn't run for more hours the memtest and memtest86 because I decided that i can reproduce it with something that doesn't need that much hours to wait.
Then i ran furmark. Bingo! (Maybe...)
3 mins and the buzzing sound from speakers, the freeze of PC and mouse came again and even i couldn't react to stop the furmark then my PC rebooted by itself. It couldn't boot maybe 3-4 times alone, so I shutdown it, waited for 10-15-20 seconds, and started it which was successful without problems.
The next day I decided that after I come from work first I will test furmark with ram 2933 and then 2133 mhz.
furmark + 2933mhz ram -> buzz + freeze
furmark + 2133 mhz ram -> buzz + freeze, again.
I was thining, Gpu or PSU?
everytime gpu temps are like 67-69 rarely 70 C. when the thing happens.
I decided that I want to test with different PSU but it will be in some of the next days maybe weekend or the next when I go in the town where I got other PC and maybe to plug the PSU from that other PC to test.
What i forgot to mention is that The Other PC (not that with the problem described) was using the THAT GPU (gpu: AMD Radeon r9 270x stock OC gigabyte windforce 2gb) for like 3 years with no problems.
While the Other PC is not near me and i can't test with other PSU, I decided to try different things like reinstalling AMD chipset drivers, reinstalling AMD GPU drivers.
steps I did:
Uninstalled from Programs and Features, Everything related to AMD drivers GPU/CHIPSET.
I then Installed Chipset drivers.
With new Chipset drivers, No GPU Drivers, -> Furmark Buzz + freez
Because I read a lot in google about such problems, I just decided to remove the green jack for my speakers (there's only green for my speakers) and test again.
I was listening to music through my headphones while testing. Furmark no freeze no buzz for 17 minutes. WHAT?! Before that it was buzzing freezing after 3-4th minute of furmark.
So i decided to put the green jack while furmark still runs and see what it is happening.
Like nothing happened no problem, Furmark still running even when I moved the sound to be not from the headphones but from the speakers. I even unplugged my headphones so it was just like before when it was freezing buzzing at 3-4 min of furmark. Furmark was still running.
I rebooted tested again. No freeze no buzz, then installed GPU drivers,
tested furmark again, no freeze no buzz,
You just cannot convince me that unplugging and plugging back that jack is the solving of the problem. I rather believe that PSU (the potential problem) is ADAPTING somehow?! What did i just say?
Ran furmark for about 17 mins again, No freeze no buzz, so I said OK, lets say it is the GPU that is faulty, I turned off the 2 fans that I got blowing air inside the case that also hit the gpu, so the gpu manage to get 75 degrees. without freezing or buzzing.
I let you know that furmark is still running I didn't stop it.
I ran Dota 2.
So no the GPU then even when i push the degrees and run the game...
Maybe.
I ran prime95 and started it with Inplace Large FFTs (Maximum power consumption, some ram tested)
I was thinking. If the PSU can't feed it, This Inplace Large FFTs will make it need even MORE power and the freeze and buzz will come again.
NO!
I don't know what is happening now. No one can convince me that unplugging and plugging again green jack will fix this.
I need some advice, some help, I will appreciate everything you say try to help me how to reproduce this problem. "The adapting PSU" "The GPU that is faulty and complete problemless at the same time"
Maybe the mobo then...
Even if I bring the problematic PC to my Other PC to test it with different PSU. I can't be sure, because i can't make it freeze/buzz with the corsair SF600W.
I even ran furmark just before i post this post. To know if something changed.
Nope, No freeze, No Buzz.
I will test it tomorrow again when the PC is cold.
I need help or advice what to do next because something here is driving me crazy.
