So I just builded a new pc and it did not boot up. I plugged the cable in and the only thing that seemed to work was the front led ont the case. So I pressed the power button and it did nothing. No noise whatsoever. I personally think it is the powersupply, but maybe it is something else.

Specs

Ryzen 5 3600

Rx 590

2x8 gb ram 3200hz

Msi b450m pro-m2 max

500w Power™ (atx power supply)

Here are some photos of the build (if they are useful :

Hopefully it can be resolved

Do you get any CPU fan action? Case fans? GPU fans?

  1. The PSU looks to be too small and/or too cheap from the looks of the wiring. Is that a XFX Fat Boy RX 590?
  2. The pictures are kind of small, but it appears that the gfx card does has a 2nd header that is not connected. Please verify for me.
  3. Might want to disconnect most of the wiring from the motherboard and plug in just the FP power button, PSU, KB. No drive(s), no mouse, etc. See if you can get it to boot.

No I did not get any fan action (no cpu and gpu fans). I don't really know how to get the case fans connected, becouse there is no 3 pin thing on this motherboard.
  1. That could be true. Should I then go with an be quit 500 watt power supply? Yes that Is indeed a 590 fatboy edition
  2. Yes the graphics card has an 2nd header and that is not connected, becouse the wire for that is not there. It is for a thing called "cpu pwr1"(now I think of it, I think for 99% sure that the power supply just f's me) on the motherboard. That is not connected becouse the wires are too short.
  3. I am going to try that tommorow becouse it is atm 1 am. Forgive me, but what does FP power button, PSU, KB mean exactly?

Just shortcuts we use to save a lot of typing...
FP = Front Panel
PSU = power supply
KB = keyboard

Whether or not it is the whole problem or not, the PSU is no doubt too small (and cheap?) for the RX 590 Fat Boy. (I had one) Yes, upgrade before using the Fat Boy.
Also (independent of getting the system to boot up), both the 6-pin and 8-pin headers on the gfx card need to be populated. When you get the point of actually booting the PC, you'll get a message warning that you need to plug in the connector if you don't.

Are you sure you have the front panel header on the motherboard connected properly?

You shouldn't need a BIOS update for the board to recognize the 3600. It should recognize the 3600 even from the very initial BIOS.

Another common mistake is adding too many motherboard standoffs. That board is pretty small, so it is less likely, But there is one standoff that might have been inadvertently installed; the one right under the southbridge chip. Might have to remove the board to check if you're unsure.

So I just ordered and installed an "be quit 500 watt" power supply. Still no boot tho. And still a blue light on the power button. I think everything is connected properly, but I am not completely sure.

You need to start over. Remove everything from the case to a table top. Breadboard the system with only the necessary components. Place the motherboard on an insulated surface (e.g. cardboard or the soft pad it sat on in the box).
Connect up just board, cpu/cooler, RAM, PSU, monitor. For now even leave the KB disconnected. Use a screwdriver to momentarily short the two pins that the case's power button would connect to. If you don't get a display after a bit, I'd return the board. But be patient. The first cold boot sometimes takes longer.

Btw, what case is that?

Update : it now works! I double checked the front panel headers and plugged it in using a tutorial. Now the pc is fully functional. Thanks for the help!
