Thanks for the speedy replies! I tried getting into the BIOS settings but for some reason can't get in. The screen tells me that pressing F2 and F12 send me to setup and boot settings, but nothing happens when I do so - it proceeds to the pxe messages.
I am able to stall the process for a second by hitting ESC as soon as the system starts up; I get diverted to another screen for a second or two. That screen appears to be listing components and has the F2 and F12 instructions again at the bottom. It's hard to read because it doesn't stay up very long! But even when I can manage to press F2 or F12 before the "ESC" screen moves on, nothing new happens. :-\
Try to press it several times right after you start the computer, another way to get around the issue is to bring up the boot menu. From there you can select the thing you want to use to install the new windows, and boot from it.
For the life of me, I can't get any boot settings or bios setup to appear. After doing some additional searching, I've tried using 0, tried fn12,fn11,fn10,fn9,fn8,fn2, all with and without also holding down ctrl. Am I just locked out??
