[SOLVED] Fried motherboard, CPU, or both?

Recently put together my first build, my components are

Asrock Z370 Killer Sli
I5-8600k
MSI Gtx 1080 gaming edition 8gb
Corsair cx600M

I had forgotten to plug in my psu to the ATX 12 v cpu connector, so the pc would start for about 15 seconds and shut down. (This is important for later)

When I finished initially I couldn’t fit all of the 8 pins of the two connectors from the psu onto the board for the ATX 12 volt CPU connector, so I had only four of 8 plugged in which was temporarily fine.

I eventually tried fitting them all and got the other part of the split 4x4 connector stuck in the wrong way. Foolishly, I tried to see if it would work that way before I plugged the other in, I heard a sizzling sound and smoke coming from it almost instantaneously. The connector had melted onto the pin and I had to brute force it out, which made the pin around the melting spot also come out.

I tried to boot it with the working wire in those slots but now the pc works for maybe half a second and immidieatly turns off. It also turned on for a split second after I unplugged the ac.

Obviously I acted very foolishly, but moving forward to have a working pc again I need to replace the parts, do you guys think the cpu could be fried? I’m going to replace the motherboard hopefully soon, but I’m really hoping that the CPU is going to be fine.

"but I’m really hoping that the CPU is going to be fine"

No way of knowing unless you test it on another PC --- otherwise you'll have to wait and see if it works when you get replacement motherboard etc.
