I am writing this on behalf of my friend.

He believes the issue was caused by removing the power to his external hard drive(seagate 8tb up + hub) before his PC was entirely off.

He cannot access BIOS.

He can get to the Falcon Norhtwest startup screen and access anything that isn't the BIOS apparently.

If it is left to boot, it just sits on a black screen with an underscore.

When he goes into his boot device options he can see the disk drives, but selecting them doesn't change anything, it still boots to the black screen with an underscore.

If he goes into an option called "Q-flash" he can save bios stuff to disk or update it but it only shows his main drive and nothing else.

Thanks in advance.

Let me know if you need more information I will provide as I can.

EDIT: Sorry if this is in the wrong category. My first post.

SPECS:

SILVERSTONE ST1500-GS
GIGABYTE GA-X99-UD4 X99
INTEL I7 5930K 6 CORE
G.SKILL 4GB 2133MHZ RIPJAWS4 DDR4 x4
EVGA GTX TITAN Z 12GB
CREATIVE SOUND BLASTER ZX PCIE
MICRON M600 SSD 1TB
WIN 7 PRO

The boot sector on the OS drive is most probably damaged. Tell him not to fool with Q-Flash, nothing there that can help this problem. He needs to repair windows and for that a bootable USB or disk with same version is needed, BOOT from it and select repair.

Thanks for the response. He inserted his windows disk and it gave him UEFI version of his ASUS disk drive in addition to the original. Selecting both of them just leads to a blank black screen though, with seemingly nothing happening.

Unfortunately he can't get into the BIOS. F1, F2, F3, F8, Escape, Delete (like his says) all do nothing.
However F12 is the Boot Manager which does work. Though as I said above none of the selections do anything other than lead to a black screen.
