Hi
I have a 1440p monitor and a RTX 4070 gfx card
It's running pretty well, but I wish to have that 4K crystal clear experience
The thing is.. I'm just a casual gamer so the 4K would mostly be for better windows, apps and text quality
But it would def. not hurt to run a few games in native 4K if possible

But how much will going to 4K from 1440p worsen fps and give more heat and noise?
I have already limited my gfx card so it makes less heat and noise. I enjoy that

I think I could tolerate 1080p upscaled to 4K in some games, if the image is clear enough and not too blurry etc.
But some say upscaling will look worse than native 1080p, others say it will look better. What is correct?
Thank you

To answer that, please state your CPU model along with other system information (mobo, psu, ram, etc).

FPS is mostly capped by the CPU and the graphics are capped by the GPU. Increasing the resolution will take load away from the CPU (most scenarios) and put more load to the GPU.

We would also need your current GPU & CPU utilization (along with the FPS your getting) as you play on 1440p to determine what would the performance be like on 4k res.

Also if you can, mention the temps of the CPU and GPU as well.

Update
Got the 4K monitor
Performance in 4K is fine so far
The computer has to work a bit more, and that ofc gives a bit more heat and fan noise
But it's easy to tweak around, lower some settings etc.

And 1080p upscaled is an option for games that struggle with fps
I think the best is to use "integer scaling".
Then if a game cannot run well in 4K it would still run much better and look decent in 1080p upscaled
Theoretically, untested
