from 7 to 8 installing windows

Hi
Im installing clean windows 8. Now i have win7
I have one HDD with split pratitions local disk C which is for operating system and local disk D which is for docuemnts and files. Will it be done right if i format local disk C and installing win8 on it? I dont want to delete any files on my second partition D. I symply format C and installing windows yes?

That's the correct procedure yes, though why you'd ditch windows 7 for windows 8 is beyond me.....
