I have recently switched my CPU from AMD Athlon II X2 to Phenom II X4 955 and facing issue of shutting down of my PC after 2-3min of gameplay(GTA V). On my old CPU i.e. Athlon it used to work but with lags but wont shutdown.

My Config:
DEEPCOOL GAMMAXX 200T cooler
Gigabyte board M68MT-S2P
Graphics GTX550Ti

Note: I am new to this forum sorry for any errors.
Thanks

Have you got the latest bios? The thuban can work on less voltage and would have been the best. Also it takes my Cooler Master 212 to handle the temps of my thuban. You would need atleast as good for the Phenom 955 because mine is set at 1.275v.

Check your temps using speedfan while using prime95.

My guess is you need a much better cooler. This H7 is way better than my Cooler Master 212.

Yes I have updated to the latest bios, I think the cooler is fine
Without Load 45-50
On Load 60-65
My guess is that since my CPU requires more power and my GPU also need extra power so the PSU is insufficient for it. How much watt PSU do i need? How do i check if my CPU is lacking power ?

Your cooler isn't fine as the Max opertating temp is 62C are there abouts. These older CPU's aren't designed for high heat.

The cryorig M9a is good and about an equal to my cooler master 212.

So its the cooler part you mean. My budget is a bit low so how about Cooler Master Hyper 103.
It has a smaller fan but RPM is 2200.
another thing I noticed is my mobo temps are:
TMPIN0 45-50
TMPIN1 24-27
TMPIN2 47-60
Are these ok or too high?
Please check image attached.

Yes the tmpin2 is your northbridge with a max temp of 80c. Tempin1 is your System Board Temp which yours is fine. Tmpin0 is motherboard sensor located above the ITE chip has a max temp of 62c. Your CPU is hitting 69c which is way to hot.
You need the M9a or cooler master 212 at the very least. The CM103 isnt enough to handle the Phenom 955. You may want to even under volt the phenom for cooler running. If you do test it for stable operation just as you would overclocking.

Is my PSU fine?
Thanks for support. Will soon order CM212 and get back.

If you were having a power supply problem you tend to hear a loud pop, smell burning, or inability to play games. A PSU uses tends to first be graphic glitches, then games crashing, and finally games or even system not starting till you remove the video card.

When you see issues arise just after a new part it tends to have something to due with the new part.

Thermal throttling is the only thing I see evidence of.

Thanks man. Finally placed order CM 212. Now i see the temp without gaming is reaching 57-59 which is bad.

How to set voltages since im a noob at it. Can i use deepcool 120mm fan on it since its now useless?

Any 120mm just be sure to use it as the pull fan. Use the CM212's as the push fan. As for the voltage find CPU voltage control in your bios. My voltage is 1.275 but that is a thuban and the phenom needs a bit more. Look in bios to see how much voltage your CPU is getting at idle so you can see the normal running voltage. Try 1.3 to 1.3125v and test for stablity. Be sure to know how to reset your bios if it crashes. Pull the motherboard battery with the system unplugged always works.

As the CM212 gives extra clips for 2nd fan i can get any 120mm and add to it. But i think 2nd fan wont do much diffrence in temp. As far as voltages are concerned mine is 1.4000v. How much should i do? which one should i change among 3? See the attachment http://

The second fan doesn't do a lot but basically thats what the CM212X is. With any given 120mm fan you probably want get the full 212x but something in between. I posted a benchmark of the 2 below and the 212x gets 3c lower so if you a case fan not doing much may work better on the cooler. The one you have selected in red. The try seting it to 1.3~1.325 and test. AMD sets the voltage a bit high to cover all the silicon lottery so you should have some room to work with.

Ok let me try without a fan as i havent recived my cm212 yet and deepcool fan wont attach to it, i need some other one.
My cabinet has only one fan so will that be a reason for heat up?
I have set 1.325 an here its>https://ibb.co/izWjNa

Still my fan is on the way and it still it shuts down.

Is it shutdown at about the same length of time as before? Is sooner you may need a bit more voltage for stablity but I suggest waiting on the new heatsink. It should work at 1.35v unless you have one of the worse silicon lottery chips.

Whats your video card and power supply?

No it takes a bit more around 8-10mins to shutdown. Today ill get my heatsink and clear the doubts.

My vcard GTX550Ti Zotac and power supply some genric 450W.

If the new heatsink doesn't get better results the lower voltage probably just reduce the load on the power supply. If so here a nice PSU that can handle any video card.
Get this PSU or the 520w version as either are fine.

Feeling sad, installed CM212 still it shutsdown after 10-15mins. At startup>>http://
Now my cabinet is is getting smaller for the fan. I need to keep my door open.
