Ok Everyone, as you all know the 680 just come out. WHich it will bottle neck my current FX 6100....

SO i have two questions....

If i get the Phenom, which Phenom can i get that won't bottle neck just one GTX 680

What Phenom SHould i get, and if i get a Phenom X6 will i need to re install windows as....Ofcourse i had to install windows and update bios on a Phenom 955, then put FX 6100 in which was another hardware change. Can i change it out one more time without having to do a windows Repair?

I'll have to check. But i think i see where you are going.

You think i have a virus but, I have run so many Anti Virus Full scans. Hard drive Defraggs and it still comes up. I am thinking about just getitng a Core i5 and hopefully a 11115 motherboard for a good deal. Because there is no better performance then Intel. AMD was a sort of let down.....

I don't use any illegal software so.....that ends that. So there fore it couldn't be that. I have a clean hard drive. No illegal content. or......this Sexual content known as Porn so......
I am a clean Citizen nothing which would involve me with copyright breachings. I don't even touch any of those applications

Ill try that. when i get home. i am currently at work

Even if it's not my money I don't enjoy suggesting people spend theirs to upgrade a new system that 'didnt quite make it'.

But it's looking like you'll be more happy with a better CPU than a few extra bucks in your pocket.

What are the chances you could [strike]see[/strike] sell the MB/CPU/RAM/ASUS CUII GTX 560 ti as a package? That's risky - but if your serious about a Sandy Bridge/Ivy Bridge option it seems the way to go.

The safe move is one of the faster quad/hex core Phenom IIs.

Hello mal - good to see Yoda still hangin' in there.

@ Rockdpm;

I hate sayin' you need buy a new CPU so soon. Want to hang in a while, try a bit of overclocking and see what happens in the next few weeks?
Maybe make plans for a summer upgrade?

I am gonna go ahead and grab a Phenon 980....I think i can get a new one off Amazon or Ebay Brand new, for the same price as new egg's OEM version

I don't know if i should just buy it from newegg tho.

Amazon is fine. On eBay make sure you check who you're dealing with and that you're comfortable with them.

It's clear the FX-6100 doesn't quite match the quality of your other parts.
Hope you can find someone to give it a useful job. It's actually a decent CPU for a majority of people. Just not quite what serious gamers are looking for.

Hi :)

Whoa...you forgot to mention he might wreck his motherboard completely and his cpu if he gets it totally wrong.....and as he has no overclocking experience, there is a fair chance of that 🙁

All the best Brett :)

Very true. Which is why from now on. I buy my CPU's around the clock speed i want and not have to do too much boosting

Thanks Brett

My advice would be sell the fx chip and get a phenom II X4 get it in the range of 3.6ghz - 3.9ghz per core and sell the 560's to get a gtx 680 (Wait a couple months till aftermarket cooling versions come out) and there will be no bottleneck 😀

I got hold of a 1100T, it has enough pony in it to run my dual 480's oc'd to stock 580 clocks without to much chugging, bearing in mind I am running SLI which is relatively new to AMD setups.

I don't see why you need to now change platforms to Intel nor do I see a single 680 really bottlenecking a FX 8000 or X6 1090/1100T considering a 7970 doesn't bottleneck a Pentium G620

thanks for the comment , i ordered a phenom II X4 980. hopefully the gtx 670 or 680 won't be bottlenecked

wow really?, that gives me hope. i didnt get a six core because they are a little hard to find. so i got the best x4 they make. the phenom ii 980. hopefullly no bottle neck
