I am going to upgrade from ME to XP Pro, is there anything I should know before doing this task? Move files, delete files, ect....
Whenever I start messing around with my operating system, I seem to screw things up. Thank you for your help in advance. -Jeff

Do a complete format when you install XP. Wipe your hard drive 100% clean. XP will do this for you if you follow the prompts during the installation (Boot from the CD). Backup your data onto another HD or a disc of some type.

Doing an upgrade installation from WinME is asking for trouble. Yes, it's a little bit more of a hassle in the short run, but in the long run, it's a MUCH more stable solution. Get ME off that system completely.

Like scero said, and also...

Don't forget to copy stuff besides your data such as net pop3/smtp details, outlook .pst or wab, favourites, templates etc etc

I would get new hard drive and put xp on it and slave your old one. that way you can take your time moving your files and settings over to the new hard drive. Install the old hard drive after you put xp on the new one. You don't want to duel boot xp and me :) - Good Luck.
