Front Panel Audio Jacks keep connecting and disconnecting

Hi, Recently my front audio jacks have been having problems. Currently I have my speakers plugged into the back audio jacks and my headset plugged into the front. The weird thing is that even when I don't touch the front audio jacks I keep getting a notification telling me that "An audio device has been unplugged." 1/2 a second later I would get the message "An audio device has been plugged in." This would repeat for quite a long time. Sometimes it works fine but after awhile I keep getting the notification again and again. I know that it is my front ports problem because I tried plugging in my headset to the back and it worked fine. I then plugged in some earphones into the front speaker audio jack and I would keep getting the notification again. Also, If i try listening to music or something, I can hear the sound jumping between coming out of my headset then to my speakers then vice versa each time the notification pops up. If I don't plug anything into the front then it is fine. However I really want to fix this. The front audio ports are really useful to me. If somebody could please help me I would be really glad!

I searched around the internet for the few days and found no solution. I tried uninstalling Realtek and not using it but I still had the jumping betwen speakers and headset but just without the notification. I tried updating Realtek drivers but it did nothing. I checked for motherboard updates but I already had the most recent one. I tried messing with the Realtek Sound Manager settings but it still did not help. I have surfed tons of posts on the site but could not find somebody having the same problem as me but only similar. I tried their solutions but it still did not work. I am really really stumped right now.

It sounds like your computer only wants to send audio out of one output at a time.

do you have a setting in the realtek panel to redirect sound from speaker to headphones when they are connected to the system

Yes. I have the option that says "Mute the rear output device, when a front headphone plugged in." I tried enabling it/ disabling it but it has no difference. The thing is is that even if I only have my headset plugged in to the front the problem still occurs. Thanks for helping though 🙂

That should be right, I have heard of people getting these mixed up and that is the symptom. You can check on the ASUS forum and see if anyone has this problem.

Plug everything into one jack. (Assuming you can get one jack -front or back- to behave)

I would also try running with nothing connected to any audio jacks at all and see if the notification comes up.

If no notification, then maybe there is something loose in one of the connections with the cables for one of your audio devices.

If you still get the notification with nothing plugged in to any audio jacks, something is going on internally. (Maybe something with the front panel header.

Ok. I tried not plugging in anything and I stopped getting the notification. I tried plugging into only the back audio jacks and it worked fine but then when I tried only using the front panel ones i would get the problem again. No matter what I plugged into the front panel I would still get it. If it has something to do with my internal connections, Is it possible to fix?

You can check the connection points at the motherboard and, depending on your case, you could also get a good look at the connection point to the back of the jack.

The motherboard connection should have some small plug-in connectors and the connection at the back of the jack is most likely soldered. (But could have a cold or broken solder joint)
